‘The Flash’ star Harrison joins Spa-Con

Michelle Harrison, star of The CW’s hit show, “The Flash,” will be the featured guest celebrity Sept. 22, at Spa-Con IV, Visit Hot Springs announced.

The three-day, multi-genre comics and pop culture convention, which annually attracts 5,000 fans to the city, will run from Sept. 20-22 at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

According to a news release, Harrison has more than 80 movies and TV shows to her credit. She will meet fans in a question-and-answer session at noon Sept. 22 in Room 207 at the convention center. At 1 p.m. she will be available for photograph­s in Room 201 and at 2 p.m. she will meet and greet VIP ticket holders in Room 209, Bill Solleder, marketing director for Visit Hot Springs, said in the release.

“Harrison has shared the screen with a list of talented actors including Sir Ben Kingsley, Ben Affleck, Aaron Eckhart, Jennifer Aniston and Philip Seymour Hoffman,” the release said.

“Currently seen as Nora Allen on CW’s ‘The Flash,’ fans immediatel­y took a liking to her character — whom they’ve dubbed ‘Mama Flash’ — featured in some of the most heart-wrenching and highest-rated episodes of the series. The series recently won the Saturn Awards’ ‘Best Superhero Adaption TV Series’ as well as the 2017 Teen Choice for ‘Action TV Show,’” the release said.

According to the release, other hit shows Harrison may be recognized from include “House,” “Cold Case,” “NCIS,” “Emily Owens M.D.,” “Continuum,” “Supernatur­al,” “The L Word,” “Stargate Universe,” “Eureka” and “Fringe.”

She also starred in popular movies such as “Paycheck,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” “Love Happens,” “Good Luck Chuck,” “The Invisible” and “40

Days & 40 Nights.”

Spa-Con IV tickets are available at http://www.spa-con.org. Early-bird tickets are on sale for Spa-Con IV at www.spacon.org. Weekend passes good for the entire convention are $25; day passes are $20, and VIP passes are $100. The ticket prices will increase Sept. 1, the release said.

Previously, organizers announced Barry Bostwick, star of the legendary cult film classic, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” had joined the Spa-Con IV lineup for Sept. 21.

Robotic rock ‘n’ roll band Cybertroni­c Spree will kick off Spa-Con IV with a free concert on Sept. 20.

“Our celebratio­n of pop culture and comics brings together a diverse audience that loves everything from Batman to ‘Stranger Things,’ Pac-Man to Mario Smash Bros, Dungeons and Dragons to Pokemon and everything in between,” Solleder said in the release.

“This year we are featuring a return visit by Bumblebee, the spectacula­r 12-foot robot cosplay character who was such a hit at Spa-Con III. A photo of Bumblebee arriving at SpaCon III by Spa-Con photograph­er Alejandro Martinez of Hot Springs won the 2018 AlFiE award for Best Photo,” Solleder said.

Solleder added Spa-Con provides “possibly the best people-watching fun in the state. It has hosted celebritie­s from ‘Star Trek,’ ‘Twin Peaks,’ ‘Battlestar Galactica,’ and ‘Stranger Things,’ not to mention, NASA scientists and 12-foot-tall robots.”
