Garrett Woods to hold fundraiser for St. Jude

-

Garrett Woods Senior Living will team up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to host a bowling event fundraiser for the hospital’s cancer research from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday at Central Bowling Lanes, 3017 Central Ave.

“Most of the people bowling will be residents and staff and the public is invited. All bowlers will make a donation in order to bowl,” a release said.

“This is an event to give area residents the opportunity to help support the lifesaving mission of one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers,” it said.

“We are excited to help raise awareness and funds to support the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is to find cures and save children,” Diane Bates, event coordinator, said in the release. “The St. Jude Fundraiser will truly make a difference in helping the children of St. Jude fight cancer and other deadly diseases.”

Since opening in 1962, St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and around the world. No child is ever denied treatment because of a family’s inability to pay. With a daily operating cost of $1 billion, St. Jude depends mostly on public contributions and fundraising events, like the Bowling for St. Jude’s event.
