Library now offers cake pans

-

The Garland County Library has added cake pans to its inventory of circulating items. Now, with a Garland County Library card, patrons can borrow traditional items like books, movies, and audiobooks as well as fishing poles, Wi-Fi hot spots, watt meters, Halloween costumes, and cake pans.

According to a news release, adult library cardholders, in good standing, may now borrow one cake pan at a time for a period of one week from the Garland County Library. Pans come in classic shapes such as squares, rectangles and circles, as well as character shapes like Buzz Lightyear, Elsa from Disney’s “Frozen,” Darth Vader, Dora the Explorer and more. Other novelty shapes available include an open book, a football, dinosaur, guitar, heart, paw print and more. Currently, there are 26 pans available to check out.

Borrowing a cake pan from the library can benefit a variety of patrons from beginning bakers who want to decorate a fun cake to individuals who want to make a special character cake for a child’s birthday party. Offering cake pans has been a goal for adult circulation supervisor, Karen Covey, the release said.

“Our library has slowly been adding non-traditional library materials with great success. Our Halloween Costume Closet is a huge hit every fall, our fishing poles stay checked out, and the Wi-Fi hot spots we added most recently have been very popular with the public,” she said in the release.

The library is encouraging those who borrow cake pans to email a picture of their creations to the library’s marketing coordinator, Erin Baber, at ebaber@gclibrary.com for use on the library’s Facebook page.
