HS Tech Learning Center announces October schedule

The Hot Springs Tech Learning Center recently announced its October schedule.

The classes and costs include the following:

• One on One Help Sessions — Scheduled through staff; $20 per session. One-on-one help for topics that are not covered by other workshops and classes. Students will be matched with a staff member who can provide assistance.

• iPhone Bluetooth, Travel Maps and Apple Car-Play — Scheduled through staff; $20 per session. The workshop is a one-on-one session primarily working with the iPhone’s Map app and Apple’s Car-Play, including suggested apps that could enhance the Car-Play or iPhone experience, and using music, phones calls and messages with a vehicle, and how to use these features over Bluetooth only.

• One Care — Scheduled through staff; $20 per session. The workshop covers how to navigate through the options available with One Care, St. Vincent’s Patient Portal, including sending email to a doctor and viewing test results and scheduled appointmen­ts. Participan­ts who are already registered should bring their username and password; those who are not will be instructed on how to register.

• Copy, Cut, and Paste — Oct. 1, 1-3 p.m., or Oct. 30, 10 a.m. to noon; $20. A workshop that covers the techniques to transfer text, files, and photos from one location to another. Needed for the Managing Photos workshop.

• Windows 10 Basics — Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28, 1-3 p.m.;

$30. Topics include parts of the computer, mouse usage, turning a computer on and off, taskbar, start menu, and desktop icons, and an introducti­on to the internet and email. A home computer is not required but is highly recommende­d, so students can practice the skills they learn in the classroom.

• Managing Photos — Oct.

8, 1-4 p.m., or Oct. 22, 9 a.m. to noon, $20. This workshop will address how to transfer pictures from a camera to a computer, how to organize the pictures into folders, and how to back up the pictures to a flash drive. This is a hands-on workshop and students will use the Windows 10 operating system.

• Creating a Calendar — Oct. 9, 1-4 p.m., and Oct. 23, 9 a.m. to noon, $20. Hands-on help creating a calendar to use as a gift, and publishing the calendar. Students should bring the photograph­s they want to include in the calendar.

• Creating Photo Gifts — Oct. 9, 9 a.m. to noon and Oct.

23, 1-4 p.m., $20. Make a picture gift, card, invitation, or thank you cards using Snapfish. Bring favorite photos and join the fun.

• Popular Internet Tips — Oct. 15, 2-4 p.m.; $20. Students will receive an overview of the internet and how to navigate on the web securely as well as an introducti­on to the many useful features of Google. Students will also learn how to download programs, photos and files from the internet, and the instructor always includes a number of tips and tricks, as well as how to download and personaliz­e pages from the web and how to access other useful and informativ­e websites.

• Android Phone — Oct. 16,

1-3 p.m.; $20. A seminar on Android phones that includes accessing the internet and using email, apps, camera, sending photograph­s from the camera, the calendar, alarm clock, and Wi-Fi networks. Students should bring their own Android phone.

• Streaming TV and troublesho­oting — Oct. 17, 1- p.m.;

$20. How to connect a TV through the Internet instead of using cable or satellite. Covers the equipment, subscripti­ons and services such as Roku, Sling and Hulu. Ask troublesho­oting questions on any topic; participan­ts can also bring a phone, laptop, iPad, activity monitor.

• iPhone — Oct. 24, 10 a.m. to noon; $20. How to use features on the iPhone, including accessing the Internet and email, installing apps, using the camera, sending pictures from the camera, using calendar, alarm clock, how to connect to Wi-Fi networks. Students should bring their own iPhone.
