Delta Artist featured at Art & Wine Dinner

-

The Avenue’s next Art & Wine Dinner on Sunday, Sept. 29, will feature Delta artist Cheryl Moore.

Moore gets her inspiration from the rural beauty of the Arkansas Delta where, “between two rivers,” she resides and creates, a news release said.

After receiving her BSE in Art from Arkansas State University in 1975, Moore went on to teach art for 37 years in Arkansas schools. She decided to immerse herself in creating her own body of artwork after she retired.

“Today, I am learning to focus my art and listen to my inner voice guiding me. In creating a series of acrylic abstract paintings, I have experienced an enormous amount of joy and freedom. When I asked friends and family to help name my works of art, they give them positive titles. From that, I feel they have sensed some of my enthusiasm. My art is an exploration of my heart, a surrendering to the creative spirit, and I hope, a source of inspiration and joy for the viewer,” Moore said in the release.

The lifelong resident of Arkansas lives in Phillips County, between the Mississippi and White rivers, an area with an easygoing lifestyle that she records through her photography and painting. “During the week, she can often be found with her husband, David, riding both levees of those two waterways taking wildlife pictures. She considers her photos an important part of her art, and while they stand alone themselves, they are often used as reference material for her acrylic paintings,” the release said.

Since the rural area has no artist community, Moore in 2009 created two Arkansas artists Facebook groups, Arkansas Artist (Visual), and Arkansas Women Artists (Visual).

“These groups allowed her to learn and share with our state’s artists. During this growth period, she created Cheryl Moore’s Artwork page and became listed on the Arkansas Artist Registry. With continued growth, you can find Cheryl and her art on Instagram: cmooreof_my_art, on her YouTube channel: Enjoy Moore, with Cheryl Moore, and her website: cmoorefinearts.com,” the release said.

The evening’s five-course meal will be a creative endeavor, as well. The Avenue’s executive chef, Casey Copeland, will use seasonal and locally sourced foods to create each course which he will pair with the perfect wines.
