Lakeside sweeps XC meet

TEXARKANA — Lakeside swept all four divisions of the Jack Huntze Invitation­al hosted by Trinity Christian School in Texarkana on Saturday.

The Rams put up 23 points for the win in the senior boys division with Pleasant Grove (Texas) finishing second with

60. Bismarck was sixth with 127 points.

Lakeside junior Caleb Wrublesky earned his first win of the year, crossing the line in 17:21.67 with teammates William Mims (17:33.79) and Hunter Dorathy (17:40.11) rounding out the top three. Senior Ashton Dorathy (18:21.65) finished seventh, and Barrett James was 10th (18:26.04) to round out the team’s top five.

Bismarck was led by Joseph Ventress, who finished ninth overall in 18:25.55. Wayne Porterfiel­d (20:15.11) was 26th overall, Brooks DePriest (20:20.38) 27th, Nathan Porterfiel­d

(22:08.38) 42nd, and Reynaldo Vasquez (22:11.51) 43rd. The Lady Rams finished with 15 points, the lowest possible score, in the senior girls race. Pleasant Grove was again second with 58 points.

Senior McKaila Davis also earned a win for Lakeside, crossing the line in 21:30.28, as the team took the top five scoring finishes. Freshman Molly Fortin (22:39.74) was third, junior Natalie Jennings (22:56.96) fifth, sophomore Emma Belic (23:07.59) sixth and sophomore Hope Drake (23:19.73) seventh. Ouachita’s Tessa Kuykendall finished second overall in 22:33.63.

Fountain Lake’s Riley Heather finished 18th overall with a time of 25:48.61, and Bismarck’s Victoria Bourgious was 20th with a 26:12.03 finish.

The junior Rams garnered 55 points for the win with Ouachita coming in second with 64, and Bismarck was fifth with 120 points.

Lakeside’s junior boys took the top three finishes with Joseph Bariola winning the two-mile race in 9:21.57, Levi Dugger finishing second (9:34.12) and Walker Wood (9:42.32) third. Teddy Headlee was 24th (11:22.62), and Ian Murray rounded out the scoring in 27th (11:32.28).

Bismarck was led by Joseph Porter in fifth place with a time of 10:09.95. Ty Ventress was 18th (11:05.78), Eli Van Wie

(11:31.78) 26th, Colin Jones (12:09.21) 38th, and James Roeck

(12:20.45) 42nd.

The junior Lady Rams finished with 20 points for the win with Genoa Central finishing second with 42 and Bismarck fifth with 132.

Genoa Central’s Savannah Williams won the junior girls race in 10:58.99, but Lakeside took the next five scoring finishes. Mya Hubbard led the team with a finish of 11:08.37 for second, Annabel Sarver was third in 11:29.19, Brenna Townley

(11:35.51) fifth, Ivy James (11:43.92) sixth and Adison Gibson

(11:47.62) seventh.

Bismarck was led by Kelssi Davis in 10th place with a time of 12:19.17. Lauryn Ventress was 40th (14:44.97), Regan Parrie

(15:35.00) 52nd, Callie Corley (16:24.78) 61st and Madison Owen (20:16.00) 74th.

Lady Cobras down CAC

FOUNTAIN LAKE — Fountain Lake picked up another win Monday afternoon as it swept Central Arkansas Christian at Sammy Lambert Court at Irvin J. Bass Gymnasium.

The Lady Cobras (8-1, 2-1 3A South) were led by senior outside hitter Emoree Martin with 11 kills as they defeated the Lady Mustangs (4-6, 4-2 3A Central), 25-19, 25-8, 25-13.

Junior middle hitter Patience Campbell led the Lady Cobras in service, putting up 16 points off the service while adding six kills and two blocks, and sophomore setter Sophie Skinner had 34 assists along with 10 service points, including three aces.

The junior varsity team defeated CAC 25-19, 25-11. Hannah Bearden led the team with 11 service points and five aces.

Faith Jones led the junior high to a 25-10, 25-18 win. She led the team with 11 service points.

The Lady Cobras travel to Haskell Harmony Grove on Thursday.

Fall golf classic set for Oct. 4 at HSCC

Hot Springs Country Club will again host the annual Arkansas Fall Golf Classic on Oct. 4 on the Park Course. The tournament benefits the Arkansas School for Mathematic­s, Sciences and the Arts.

Commerce, the four-person scramble starts with a shotgun start at noon with check-in and lunch from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Registrati­on is $600 per team or

$150 per person which includes green and cart fees, lunch and gifts.
