Rams win inaugural MTXE tournament title

Lakeside held its inaugural Rams MTXE volleyball tournament last Saturday, and the Rams swept their competitio­n to claim the tournament win.

The Rams faced off against Mena in the first round of the gold bracket, defeating them 25-15, 25-14.

Maddie Trusty led the team with 15 kills, Molly Stineman had 15 digs, and Olivia Lawrence had 19 assists and six digs.

Lakeside then took on Paris for a 25-17 win in the first set before holding on for a 26-24 win to advance to the finals.

Trusty tallied 11 kills in the match, Lawrence had 23 assists and six digs, and Macy Landry and Stineman had seven digs each. Katie Ballard added five kills.

Trusty again dominated the net in the final as the Rams eked out a 2-1 win over Van Buren. After winning the first set 25-19, the Rams dropped the second 22-25 before taking a 15-9 win in the third.

Trusty had 12 kills in the final, and Stineman had 20 digs. Ballard added 11 kills, and Lawrence had 27 assists with eight digs. Adachi Igbokidi tallied three blocks and three kills.

To reach the gold bracket, the Rams swept their pool, defeating Harrison and Morrilton

2-0.

In its first match of the day, Lakeside easily dispatched Harrison 25-9, 25-12, led by Trusty’s double-double with

10 kills and 17 digs. Stineman added nine digs, and Lawrence had 24 assists.

The Rams took a 25-18 win in their first set against Morrilton, but they had to battle to claim the 25-23 win in the second.

Trusty led the team at the net with 14 kills and five digs, and Ballard added nine kills. Landry added 10 digs, and Stineman had seven.

Lawrence finished with 28 assists and six digs, and Igbokidi had three blocks.

The Rams will host Sheridan on Tuesday at the Lakeside Athletic Complex.

Hot Springs wins silver division of tournament

SHERIDAN — Hot Springs played in a tournament at Sheridan last Saturday, winning the silver division.

After a bye into bracket play, the Lady Trojans defeated host Sheridan.

Iona Island led the team offensivel­y with five kills. Jurnee Hicks had three kills and three blocks, and Marly Archie added three kills and four blocks.

In the finals, the Lady Trojans needed a third set to secure the win against Bauxite. After a 26-24 win in the first set, the Lady Miners won the second 25-23. Hot Springs held on to take a 19-17 win in the third set for the win.

Hicks had 13 kills and seven blocks to lead the team, Island added nine kills and Archie had eight kills with two blocks. Emma Campas added four kills and a block.

The Lady Trojans will host Lake Hamilton on Tuesday at Trojan Fieldhouse.
