‘One Night With Conway Twitty’ coming to Hot Springs Village
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Vocalist Gil Grand will showcase the music of legendary country star Conway Twitty with the show “One Night With Conway” at Woodlands Auditorium on Friday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m.
“Transporting the audience to the time when Conway Twitty ruled country music,” Grand showcases more than 25 of Twitty’s biggest hits, including “Hello Darlin’,” “Tight Fittin’ Jeans,” and “Love To Lay You Down,” a news release said.
“He mixes his 90-minute show with the stories behind the songs and interviews with people that knew Conway best. Grand is backed by award-winning musicians, complete with classic country wardrobe,” the release said.
Before his death in 1993 while performing in Branson, Mo., Twitty sold more than 50 million records, amassing 55 Number One singles, according to a biography included with the release. Growing up in Helena, he formed his first singing group and had a local radio show there before working with iconic Sam Phillips at Sun Studios in Memphis to perfect his sound.
“Looking for a stage name, the singer is said to have seen Conway, Ark., and Twitty, Texas, on a map, choosing the name Conway Twitty,” the release said.

“One Night With Conway” benefits the Lifelong Learning Institute of Hot Springs Village and is being presented by the Hot Springs Village POA and the Lifelong Learning Institute.
