Musical duo A+B featured at Wednesday Night Poetry
Little Rock powerhouse musical duo A+B, made up of Adrienne Collins and Bonnie Earleywine, will be featured tonight at Wednesday Night Poetry at Kollective Coffee+Tea,
110 Central Ave.
The regular open mic session for all poets will begin at
6:30 p.m. today. A+B will begin their feature set at 7:15 p.m., followed by another round of open mic. Admission is free and open to all ages.
With Collins on vocals and Earleywine on guitar and vocals, A+B has performed in and around Little Rock, often lending their talents to various charity events and organizations. Their high-energy cover sets feature a little bit of everything: pop, rock, R&B, folk, and oldies.
“We need a little energy and lightness after losing our beloved founder Bud Kenny last Wednesday, and I think that A+B will definitely bring that,” WNP host Kai Coggin said in a news release.
Collins was born on a base in Fort Sill, Okla., and now lives in Little Rock after retiring from the military. She is the human resources director for the Arkansas Arts Center, and is pursuing her Ph.D. with two master’s degrees under her belt.
“I live with my two sweet boys, my chorkie pups, Chuy and Blue,” Collins said. “I started writing when I was 8 years old. I still have my writing journal. A lot of my writings have been about my life and that turned into writing songs. Poetry has always been a part of me. Everything inspires me. Hell, I could be frustrated with a chipotle order and write a poem or song about it. Life is art.”
Earleywine was born in Little Rock and still calls it home. She is the wife of WNP twotime feature poet and English teacher Caroline Earleywine. They have two dogs, Bug and Holden. Earleywine has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and a master’s degree in Fisheries.
“Music has always been a way for me to express myself in a more extroverted way. I was an incredibly shy kid. I taught myself guitar in ninth grade and shocked my friends and family by singing a solo in church that year. I laughed mid-sentence when I caught eyes with my surprised sister and brother-in-law. I also use music to recalibrate myself and reduce stress,” Earleywine said. “Adrienne and I have been performing together since 2015. We enjoy everything from Motown to Top 40 and like to put our own spin on tunes. A+B shows are genuine. There’s no guessing that we’re friends, we adore music, and love performing.”
