The kudzu president

-

Dear editor:

I want to say “amen” and “amen” to the letter in Monday’s issue (Oct. 14) by C.G. Smith. Everything he stated is so accurate about our supposed leader.

One thing I should like to add to Mr. Smith’s list: When he’s angry and doesn’t get his way, he strikes out physically promoting violence. Children do this when they lose at a particular game. Last week’s fake video shown at Trump’s Miami resort shows him striking out at presses and individuals who have criticized him in the past: McCain (a man of honor), Obama (a president who helped bring us out of a recession very close to the 1930s Depression), and the Clintons (who the ultra-right detest). The free press, guaranteed by our Bill of Rights of our Constitution, has been endangered from day one of this current presidency. Trump uses strong-arm tactics like the Nazis of old (even early on sympathized with neo-Nazis) and seems to think that diplomacy never works. He is a bully, a fraud, a deceiver, a liar and always finds a scapegoat for his idiotic and dangerous actions. The desertion of the Kurds, our allies, is an unforgivable action that even some of his political staff and supporters have lambasted as erroneous.

Over the weekend, 76 known Kurds were dead and many civilians wounded. To make matters worse, as some predicted, many ISIS men and their families escaped confinement, so now ISIS will rebuild. It was never defeated, as Trump had declared at one point. Evil does not die; it lies dormant like kudzu vine in the winter. Gentle readers who are not aware of the effect of kudzu vine in the spring should learn. It was an Asian plant brought years ago to our great country supposedly to act as forage for animals. A few years later the horrible downside was discovered. The plant cannot be totally destroyed by fire. It must be uprooted. This POTUS reminds one so easily of kudzu. Something thought so great by so many, then slowly showing its evil nature, smothering everything in its path.

As terrible as an impeachment process can be, it is that kind of uprooting that seems necessary now to rid this nation of a great evil. God bless this United States of America and may the good guys finally win. John W. “Doc” Crawford Hot Springs
