PEARCY — Elsie Marie Phillips, 79, of Pearcy, passed away on Monday, Oct. 21, 2019.

Marie, as we all knew and loved, was born on March 29, 1939. Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Newman William Phillips Sr. and Ora Mae Adams Phillips Willingham; three sisters, Nancy Gale Willingham, Leona Faye Phillips Long and Linda Lucille Phillips; two brothers, Roy Lee Willingham and Newman William Phillips Jr.

Marie is survived by three sisters, Shirley Joyce Phillips Smith, of Arkadelphia, Ozella Willingham, of Pearcy, and Dorthy Harvey, of Pearcy; two brothers, Raymond Earl Willingham, of Pearcy, and Charles Evert Willingham, of Pearcy; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Marie was a long-standing member of Pleasant Hill Assembly of God. We do not believe that this world knew a more blessed soul than Marie, as she was truly one of the Lord’s Greatest Gifts, as her primary life events was that Marie loved church and classic gospel, and you can be sure that any time she met you or visited with you, that you did not leave without her saying, “I like you and I will pray for you!” She truly believed in lifting up the Lord through praise and worship through song, and because of her example, we shall never forget what she left all of us who knew and loved her, and that message was simple: I Hope in the Lord!

We, the Family, are saddened by our loss of Marie; but, we rejoice and celebrate because Marie now has a New Name and a New Body. She will always be able to Walk and Run and Fly without ever getting tired again and if you knew her, as we did, then let me tell you, she deserved to Walk and Run and Fly, and never know the pain of a crippled mind and a crippled body any more as she now does. Please keep us in your thoughts, but celebrate with us in this fact of Marie beginning a new Life in Eternity with our Lord Jesus Christ!

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Gross Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Brother Bernard Rusert, of Glory Bound Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial services will be at Oma Cemetary in Pearcy.
