The Sentinel-Record

Newspaper seeks artists to design ‘mobile mural’ for company van

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Sentinel-Record is looking for a local “Van Gogh” who can make our van go.

Throughout the month of November, The Sentinel-Record will take entries for designs to wrap its company van.

With murals popping up all over Hot Springs, the hometown newspaper is looking for the perfect work of art to represent our place in the community. The winning design will marry the print and digital aspects of the newspaper.

There are two panels on the van that will display the designs, which need to be 32 inches by 21 inches. Artists can submit the same design for both panels or a different one for each.

Unlike others in town, this mural will be mobile and seen throughout town on the sides of the newspaper’s van.

“The Sentinel-Record is excited to see what the great artistic

community of Hot Springs will come up with,” General Manager Harry Porter said Wednesday.

“It is our hope that this artwork will help The Sentinel-Record to enhance the growth of our brand and continue the tradition, started way back in 1877, of The Sentinel-Record being an innovator in our community.”

Entries are being accepted through 4 p.m. Dec. 6. The winner will be announced Dec. 13 on The Sentinel-Record’s social media pages, as well as in the print and digital editions of the newspaper.

The winner will receive a oneyear free digital subscription, a $250 cash prize and their photo with their artwork along with a story in the newspaper.

Designs can be submitted three different ways. Artists can either submit their design online at hotsr.com/VanGo; by emailing their design to Beth Reed at breed@hotsr.com with the subject line “SR Van GO!”; or by mailing in their entries postmarked Dec. 6 to The Sentinel-Record

P.O. Box 580, Hot Springs, AR 71902.

Designs submitted electronically will need a resolution of 250 dpi or higher. Preferred file types are JPG and PDF; TIFF and PNG files are discouraged. Adobe Illustrator files will also be accepted.

Employees or family members of people employed by The Sentinel-Record or WEHCO Media are not eligible. Artists must be 18 years of age and designs will become property of The Sentinel-Record.
