Teen arrested with gun, drugs after fleeing
A Hot Springs teenager was arrested on multiple felony charges Tuesday night after he allegedly fled from a traffic stop and drugs and a gun were found on his person and in his vehicle.
The 17-year-old was taken into custody shortly after 9 p.m. and charged with felony counts of simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, punishable by up to life in prison, possession of drug paraphernalia, punishable by up to 20 years, possession of meth with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 10 years, possession of marijuana with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to six years, and a misdemeanor count of fleeing on foot.

Lawmaker’s body to lie in state at Capitol
LITTLE ROCK — The body of lawmaker and civil rights attorney John Walker will lie in state at Arkansas’ capitol as part of his funeral arrangements this week.
Secretary of State John Thurston announced that Walker’s body will lie in state at the Capitol today from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the second-floor rotunda. Walker, 82, died at his Little Rock home on Monday.
Funeral for Walker is scheduled for St. Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, at 11 a.m. Friday.
Walker served in the state House since 2011 and was involved in some of the state’s highest-profile discrimination and civil rights cases. He represented black students in a long-running desegregation case involving Little Rock-area schools. a warrant for a probation violation, was being held on zero bond in the Garland County Juvenile Detention Center and will be arraigned in Garland County Juvenile Court. According to the probable cause affidavit, around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Hot Springs police Cpl. Kenny May made a traffic stop on a maroon 2002 Kia in the
100 block of East Grand Avenue after he saw the car traveling without headlights or taillights.
As soon as the car stopped, the driver and sole occupant, later identified as the 17-yearold, jumped out and fled on foot.
He was located less than 10 minutes later at the intersection of Broadway Terrace and Creek Street and taken into custody without further incident.
In searching his person, officers allegedly found 1.4 grams of what later tested positive for meth in his front left pants pocket and two bags of marijuana, a total of 12.3 grams, in his right front pocket.
In the Kia, officers reportedly found a “High Standard” .22-caliber revolver, loaded with eight rounds, between the driver’s seat and center console. A third package of marijuana, about 3 grams, and digital scales were found in the dash of the vehicle. A crystal residue that tested positive for meth was reportedly on the scales.
