Visit HS to install free license plates on Monday

-

For the 10th year, Visit Hot Springs will offer free metal license plates promoting the Spa City on Monday at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

Visit Hot Springs employees will install the license plates bearing the city’s name and logo onto residents’ cars at no charge, as a way to promote the city as the residents travel to other destinations, Visit Hot Springs said in a news release.

“The plates will let people know where the drivers are from as they travel inside Arkansas and outside the state,” Steve Arrison, CEO of Visit Hot Springs, said in the release.

“All the drivers have to do is come to the convention center and we’ll install the plates for them if their front bumpers have predrilled holes for placement of a license plate. They won’t even have to get out of the car. First come, first served.”

Arrison said the installations will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the front of the convention center on Convention Boulevard.

“We’ll have installers ready at 8 a.m.,” he said. “We’ll install the plates until we run out or until 1 p.m., whichever comes first. All you have to do is drive up and we’ll put them on in a jiffy. We’ll even give you a free cup of coffee and a doughnut while the plates are installed.

“We have found this to be a great, inexpensive way for Hot Springs and Garland County residents to let the rest of the country know about their hometown. This is the 10th year we’ve done the promotion.”

Arrison said the plates are metal, black-teal-and-white custom license plates with raised letters.
