Pielemeier leads area athletes at All-Star meet

SPRINGDALE — Lake Hamilton freshman Olivia Pielemeier may not have beaten her time from the Class

5A girls state cross country meet, but she managed to improve her finish as she finished second in the Arkansas vs. Oklahoma All Star Meet at Shiloh Christian earlier this month.

Pielemeier crossed the finish line in 19:36.77 behind junior Class 6A state champions Ali Nachtigal from Rogers

(19:26.83). The freshman moved up from 10th place in the final mile of the race, moving from fourth to second in the final quarter-mile to help Arkansas defeat Oklahoma, 21-38.

Pielemeier finished third in the state meet at Oaklawn Park with a time of 19:33.10 while Nachtigal, a three-time individual state champion, won her division in 18:28.40. Class 5A champion Marcie Cudworth of Mountain Home finished third (19:39.73) while Class 5A runner-up Macie Cash of Greenwood came in eighth (20:10.14).

Jessievill­e freshman Juliah Rodgers, the Class 3A state champion, finished in 15th place with a time of 20:36.55, only the second freshman across the line.

Lakeside senior McKaila Davis followed in 21st place with a time of

20:50.96 after finishing eighth at the state meet, and teammate Whitley

Terry, the freshman who was fifth in the state meet, was 29th with a time of 21:14.34.

Lake Hamilton senior Meighan

Mears was 28th overall (21:13.28) after finishing 11th at the state meet.

Lake Hamilton sophomore Zeke McCain was the top sophomore in the boys race, finishing in 13th place with a time of 16:59.49. Arkansas blew out Oklahoma 20-43 in the boys race.

VARSITY GIRLS Fountain Lake 51, Murfreesbo­ro 41

MURFREESBO­RO — Karli Bryant led the Lady Cobras (4-0) with 16 points on Monday to lead Fountain Lake past Murfreesbo­ro.

Fountain Lake started out a little slow, allowing Murfreesbo­ro to take a 22-18 lead at halftime. After falling behind by 8 at the end of the third frame, the Lady Cobras outscored the Lady Rattlers 23-5 in the final 8 minutes.

Jill Norman logged 15 points for the match and Presley Hamric added 10.

Fountain Lake will take on Bismarck at 7 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the Battle at the Rock tournament at Magnet Cove.

Bismarck 48, Cutter Morning Star 38

The Lady Lions (1-2) came from behind in the final eight minutes to defeat the Lady Eagles (4-1) Monday.

Cutter Morning Star stretched a 19-18 halftime lead out to 33-31 going into the fourth frame before Bismarck closed out the game on a 17-5 run.

Hannah Collie, Makenna Norris and Alysa Zia added 11 points each for the Lady Lions. The Lady Eagles were led by CJ Burks and Kara Kinkaid, who both ended with double-doubles on the night. Burks had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Kinkaid tallied 10 points and 10 boards.

CMS will travel to England on Dec. 6 for its next game, and Bismarck will host Mount Ida on Dec. 3.

VARSITY BOYS Cutter Morning Star 47, Bismarck 36

Ryan Brown sank a pair of 3-pointers en route to a game-leading 22 points as the Eagles (5-0) dominated the Lions (1-2) on Monday.

CMS took a 8-6 lead in the first quarter, stretching to 25-16 at halftime. The Eagles slowed down the pace entering the second half, holding on for the win while outscoring the visitors

22-20.

Keshawn Blevins generated 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals for CMS, Brown pulled down 6 boards, and Sam Moore also had 4 takeaways. The Eagles forced 15 turnovers while dishing out for 11 assists as a team.

Bismarck will host Mount Ida on

Dec. 3, and the Eagles will travel to England Dec. 6.

Fountain Lake 70, Murfreesbo­ro 42

MURFREESBO­RO — Andrew Overton put up 27 points as the Cobras (3-1) rolled over the Rattlers (0-2).

Fountain Lake opened with a 14-10 lead en route to a 2522 halftime lead. The Cobras defense allowed just 20 points while putting up 45 to secure the win.

Colton McMullin added

19 points for the Cobras, and Landin Kizer had 12. Ketrick Dennis led the Rattlers with 12.

The Cobras will host Jessievill­e on Dec. 10.

JUNIOR GIRLS Bismarck 29, Cutter Morning Star 6

The junior Lady Lions (4-1) wasted no time as they routed the junior Lady Eagles on Monday.

Cadence Collins added 7 points for Bismarck, and Sarah Roberson and Kylie Schoultz had 6 points apiece.
