LakePointe reaches out to families in need

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

With the loss of wages and children constantly at home as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, many families are struggling to get by, so LakePointe City Church has stepped in to help provide food in their time of need.

“This has been a difficult time for families so as we saw the direction things were going we began to purchase food and prepare bags of groceries for our community,” Greg Bearss, founding pastor of LakePointe,

said in a news release.

“Our goal is to share Jesus’ love to people with food, water, toilet paper, whatever the need may be,” Bearss said, noting LakePointe has since partnered with the Arkansas Food Bank to be a distribution location for families in need in Hot Springs and the surrounding areas.

“We are excited to have this partnership to help families that may be struggling,” Toni Gipson, outreach coordinator for LakePointe, said in the release, noting they plan to continue their relief efforts “for as long as there is a need.”

Distribution will be conducted at a food delivery station in the parking lot of the church, 1343 Albert Pike Road, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, Gipson said.

“All people have to do is drive up to our church, open their trunk and we will give them a bag of food,” she said, noting the food packages are designed to feed a family of three or four for about five days.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the church’s efforts can drop off donations at the church office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday or by giving online at http://www. lakepointefamily.com to support the ministry.

LakePointe is currently worshipping online on Facebook and YouTube and will have a special “drive-in” worship experience for Easter weekend, Gipson said. For more information, call 623-4237.
