Ragina C. Jones, a mother, grandmothe­r, and friend to all, passed away April 3, 2020, at the age of 61. Ragina was born Aug. 28, 1958, in California. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard “Pete” Petersen, and her mother, Virginia Carlton Petersen.

Ragina graduated from Griffith High School in Griffith, Ind. She received an associate degree in secretaria­l science from National Park Community College in Hot Springs and was pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at the time of her death. She spent the majority of her working career in the hospitalit­y industry.

Ragina’s family was the most important thing to her. She loved spending time with her granddaugh­ter and watching her play softball, and had a huge heart for animals. Ragina loved music and had a heart for helping people in need. Ragina loved spending time on Facebook and keeping in touch with family and friends, and loved watching old crime series. Ragina was a jokester, and will be remembered for her funny and witty comments and her warm and generous smile.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Chris Woolems, of Hot Springs; her special granddaugh­ter, Courtney Woolems; two uncles and aunts, Rick and Hannah Petersen, of Oklahoma City, and Betty and Gerry Steward, of Las Vegas; a cousin, Gerry Steward Jr., of Las Vegas; and many extended family members.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love, care and support during this time. A special thank you to the doctors and ICU nurses at CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be Chris Woolems, Aaron Shaw, Josh Parks, Jason Woolems and Gerry Steward.

Memorials can be made to Garland County Humane Society or American Cancer Society.
