Style Show a success

-

Dear editor:

On behalf of the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Garland County, we wish to thank all involved in the success of our 11th annual successful and sold-out “Style Show for Scholarship” luncheon held at Hot Springs Country Club on Thursday, March 12. We were all so very thankful to celebrate this worthy cause that precipitated the coronavirus closure of our community. The proceeds from the Style Show will go toward college scholarships to single parents in our community.

Special thanks are due to our many generous Style Show Sponsors, including Southern Bancorp, The Ivy Family, Blake and Laura Whitley, Bow Tie Wealth Management, Jazzercise Hot Springs, First Security Bank, Windows USA, Alliance Rubber, Window Mart, Chantilly Boutique, the Koehn Family, B&F Engineering, and the Morris Foundation.

The staging of the event could not have occurred without the generous donations of Signature Events, Steve’s Moving Pros, the Lakeside Football Team and Shults Greenhouse.

Event chauffeurs, Bob Nagy and Joe Mouton, transported Style Show guests from the parking lot to the clubhouse in style. Guests were greeted with piano music provided by Kathleen Dockery, wine and Champagne cocktails provided by Tri-Lakes Liquor, and an amazing silent auction, supplemented by our community and coordinated by Dawn Cattaneo.

Style Show Table hosts including Helen Bumpas, Suzi Burton, Judge Vicki Cook, Stephanie Fite, Diane LaFolette, and Mint Juleps Garden Club were also greatly appreciated.

Thanks are also given to the event emcee, Steve Roberts, who made the event a rockin’ good time. A live auction of a silver fox fur coat, contributed by Stephan Beakey, added to the merriment of the afternoon.

The five boutiques who contributed their sense of style, as well as their time, talent and silent auction items, included Belk, Chantilly; Doodlebugs, Gene Lockwood, Pink Avenue, Trendy Palette Boutique and The Retrofit. Fashion Coordinator, Stephan Beakey coached our volunteer Style Show models that included Gail Ashmore, Dennis Berry, Natalie Berry, Tod Fin, Andrea Hardin, Gin Harnett, Scott Key, Cheryl Kirksey, Sally Pierce, Emily Purvis, Lisa Reilly and Anthony Tidwell.

Special thanks also go to the Single Parent Style Show Committee composed of Co-chairs Lynn King and Amy Whorton; Regional Program Manager Laura Lee Williard; Silent Auction Coordinator Dawn Cattaneo; Sponsorship Coordinator Mandi Krauss; Boutique Coordinator Terri McKissack; Publicity Coordinator Mari Simmons, as well as the entire Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Council of Garland County, composed of Co-chairs Helen Bumpas and Stephanie Thompson; Secretary Tiffany Rogers; Treasurer Mandi Krauss; Regional Mentor Coordinator Vicki Cook; Scholarship Committee Coordinator Kay Ekey; Scarlett Barnes; Mitzi Bass; Stephan Beakey; Sara Brown; Akaylah Jones; Lynn King; Carla Mouton; Sally Pierce; Jan Segrest; and Amy Whorton.
