Enough is enough
Dear editor:
Most of us consider being thoughtful a necessary demeanor to get along in life. Is it not necessary to demand this from our leaders? I would suggest that our current president lacks that very essential quality. And I have to ask for your forgiveness in this editorial if my thoughtfulness has reached its limit. But enough is enough.
The presidential briefing on Monday,
April 13, once again exposed the true character of Donald Trump. The briefing was basically a Trump rally. The lengthy presentation included a two-minute commercial praising how well the president is doing during the pandemic that is ravaging the world. The truth of how well he is doing is yet to be determined. I believe the numbers will reveal the truth of his success or failure.
From the beginning of Donald Trump’s presidency, we have been given clues as to who he truly is. Many of us wanted to give him a chance, wanted him to succeed. He was the change candidate we thought we needed. But the first day after Trump’s inauguration the lies began. He demanded that his inaugural crowd was bigger than any other president. Helsinki showed that he believed more what Vladimir Putin espoused than his own intelligence community. Donald Trump has not said a good word about Barack Obama and attacks all of his programs. Donald is not just anti-Obama, he is anti-government. anti-intelligence, anti-N.A.T.O., anti-media (except for Fox News), anti-anyone who does not give him complete loyalty. We have seen many people of his administration go to prison. We have seen change after change in the people he trusts to work under him. We have seen Donald Trump impeached.
If you happened to observe the primary that took place in Wisconsin April 7, you saw the disgusting actions of the Republican-controlled Wisconsin State Legislature and Supreme Court. They overrode the Democratic governor who wanted to postpone the primary until June or to allow a vote by mail because of the pandemic. While most of us have been trying to respect social distancing, Wisconsinites were forced to stand in line and vote at one of the reduced numbers of voting stations. Donald Trump had voiced his approval and wanted and expected the reduced number of voters to reelect Republican State Supreme Court Judge Daniel Kelly. But the people voted against the Republican incumbent and elected Democrat Jill Karofsky. Get
ready people. For this election forebodes the election of 2020.
Our previous president, Barack Obama, finally came out in support of Joe Biden. Barack did not attack Donald Trump. His intelligence and thoughtful demeanor have been sorely missed the last 3 years. I suspect in November there will be no doubt about how we expect our leaders to lead. Thoughtful people will once again stand up and be counted. We have had enough of crazy, egotistic, unthoughtful leadership. Bill Wiedmann Hot Springs
