McFarland Eye Care now offers TeleMedicine

-

LITTLE ROCK — McFarland Eye Care is now offering TeleMedicine, or TeleMed, services throughout Arkansas.

Telemedicine is the use of audio and video technology to provide real care to patients through a virtual means. This exciting platform allows patients to have access to McFarland’s trained and experienced physicians from the convenience and safety of their own home. With McFarland’s TeleMed, only a smartphone is needed. No downloads or apps are required. It is also private, secure, and HIPPA compliant, a news release said.

“We are very excited to have incorporated this type of technology into our practice,” says Dr. Byron Wilkes, oculofacial plastic surgeon at McFarland Eye Care. “TeleMed allows me to provide my patients with the care they need even when a face-to-face appointment isn’t possible.”

“We hope our TeleMed option removes a roadblock some patients are experiencing when it comes to their eye care. We chose to invest in TeleMed because we want our patients to know that we’re still here for them. We want to help however we can,” Dr. James Hoffmann said.

The benefits of telemedicine include:

• Increases access to care.

• No transportation time or costs.

• Avoid the risk of exposure to illnesses.

• Convenient access to your doctor from your smartphone — from anywhere.

• Reduced wait time.

• Eliminate child care issues. Patients are excited about this new option for care. “I can’t believe how easy it was to meet with my doctor. I am in my late 70s and not very technically savvy, but it was extremely easy to use,” said Hilda Schultz, a TeleMed patient.

To request a TeleMed appointment, patients simply need to call 866-830-1720 or visit McFarlandEye.com.

McFarland Eye Care’s Little Rock and Pine Bluff locations remain open to new and established patients for all urgent eye care needs. These locations are using precautions recommended by the CDC to ensure the safety of patients, doctors and other staff. Anyone experiencing an emergency is advised to call 866-830-1720. McFarland physicians are always available, 24/7 for emergencies.
