Lonsdale man arrested after threats to 3 stepchildren, wife at gunpoint
A Lonsdale man was arrested on felony charges early Tuesday after allegedly threatening his wife and three stepchildren, including two juveniles, at gunpoint.
John Michael Brown, 32, of
182 Applewood Trail, was taken into custody at his residence around 2:45 a.m. and charged with three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, each punishable by up to six years in prison.
Brown was later released on
$7,500 bond and is set to appear June 1 in Garland County District Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly after 2:30 a.m., Garland County sheriff’s Deputy
John Crow was dispatched to the Applewood
Trail residence regarding a disturbance in progress in- volving a man threatening members of his family with a gun.
While still en route, dispatchers told Crow they could hear yelling between two males and a female and “the situation seemed to be escalating.” Upon arrival, Crow made contact with an 18-year-old male, a juvenile female and juvenile male, all next to a vehicle in the driveway of the residence.
The three told him their mother, 37, was inside the residence with their infant sibling and their stepfather. Crow and other deputies who had arrived to assist called for everyone to come out of the residence and then detained the adult male, identified as Brown.
The mother reportedly stated Brown had gotten out of bed, grabbed his .22-caliber revolver and walked to the front door saying he saw lights coming up the driveway. She said she realized it was her son, 18, and then Brown “became irate and told him to leave the property.”
She said she collected her infant daughter and her two other children and was going to get in the car with her older son to leave when Brown suddenly threatened to shoot the three children and “began waving the revolver around erratically.”
She said he stood behind her son’s car to prevent them from leaving so she finally got out and agreed to go back inside with Brown if he would give her the gun. She said he agreed and gave the gun to her and she went inside with him, still carrying the baby, and waited for deputies to arrive.
The 18-year-old and two younger children reportedly corroborated their mother’s story. The mother told deputies she wanted to file charges on behalf of her two children and the 18-year-old said he wanted to file charges also.
