Betty S. Heller

Betty Sue Heller, born July

5, 1944, in Marianna, Ark., met her Lord and Savior on April

27, 2020.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of almost 56 years, Billy F. Heller; son, Charlie Heller and wife, Jamie, of Heflin, La.; son, Billy Wayne Heller and wife, Irene, of Mountain Pine; daughter, Lisa Heller, of Lonsdale; son, Steve Heller and wife, Brandy, of Mountain Pine; siblings, Frank Barnes, Stanley Barnes, Willie Barnes; seven grandchild­ren; and six great-grandchild­ren.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Thomas; father, Mervin Barnes; siblings, John Barnes, Bernice Smith, Hoyle Barnes, Doyle Barnes, Ralph Barnes; and grandson, Kyle Heller.

Betty loved her family with her entire being. She never met a stranger and would help anyone without giving it a second thought. Betty loved her church, Harvey’s Chapel, and loved her Lord mightily.

The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses at Arkansas Hospice Inpatient Unit.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

Our beloved mother is walking the streets of Heaven now, we know this because she knew “The Way.”

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Godwin Cemetery.

Erma R. Rodgers

Our precious mother, Erma Rhea Rodgers, 91, was called to heaven in the most peaceful way, surrounded by her loving family at her home on Sunday, April 26, 2020.

She was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Piedmont, Mo., to Thomas and Sarah Busby Stephens, then moved to Corning, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Ira Joe Rodgers; her mother and father; three grandchild­ren, whom she loved and missed dearly, Douglas Wayne Rodgers Jr. (Frog), Joshua Jones and Stephen Williamson; and two brothers, Johnny Stephens and Vernon Stephens.

Childhood sweetheart­s marrying at the age of 16, our mom and dad would have celebrated their 76th wedding anniversar­y on Nov. 8, 2020. They were blessed with seven children, Pat Bates (Earn), Gary Rodgers, Joanna Coleman (Dalton), Doug Rodgers (Lain), Lou Williamson (Henry), Karla Hilton (Buddy) and Rhonda Jones (J.J.). The highlight of their life, besides their children, was the wonderful blessing of their grandchild­ren, Rodger Bates, Tricia Hicks, Jill Teague, Crissy Rodgers, Jeremey Rodgers, Jeff Rodgers, Tasha Coleman, Tonabeth Rodgers, Summer Howard, Joey Williamson, Andy Williamson, Ashleigh Owens and Jennifer Gray. Later in life,

24 great-grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild were added to the family. Our mother was also survived by two sisters, Minnie Hansen and Mollie Fletcher (Tony), and a host of nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

Our mom was in the food industry and was a wonderful cook. She was also over the bereavemen­t lunches under Brother George Sanders and Brother B.F. Glidewell. She was the cook over Vacation Bible School. She and our father were also in the ministry in helping the sick and were very active in church. She loved gardening and sitting in her swing talking to her children and grandchild­ren.

Our mom will lay in state from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2020, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Services will be at First Pentecosta­l Church parking lot at

222 E. Grand Avenue at 10 a.m.

Friday, May 1, 2020.

Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery. To honor their grandma, her grandsons will serve as pallbearer­s.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be Joey Williamson, Tasha Coleman, members of the First Pentecosta­l Church, which our father helped build, Dr. Timothy Webb and staff at Genesis Cancer Center, Dr. James Humphreys, Nurse Kim, Minnie Hansen, Mollie Fletcher and Florence Brumley.

The family will be at 117 Rhodes St., Hot Springs, Ark.

Shirley C. Russell

Shirley Cox Russell, age 85, of Hot Springs, died Saturday, April 25, 2020.

She was born in Willow, Ark., on Jan. 26, 1935, to the late Albert Cox and Willia Myers Cox. Reared and receiving her early education in Malvern, graduating from Malvern High School in the class of 1952, she later earned her bachelor’s degree from Henderson State Teachers College (now Henderson State University) in Arkadelphi­a. She taught school at

Glen Rose for two years. Shirley worked for the Cooperativ­e Extension Service in Little Rock for many years. She was the widow of the late Clint Russell, to whom she was married on Dec. 26, 1968. He preceded her in death in 2006. Shirley loved to play bridge and to golf. She was a member of Oaklawn United Methodist Church in Hot Springs.

Also preceding Shirley in death were two sisters, Ila Crispino and Maxine Overton; and two brothers, Choyce Cox and Wilburn Cox.

Her survivors include loving nieces and nephews: Phillip and Lois Cox, of Little Rock; Steven and Jean Ann Cox, of Bryant; Cecilia Easterwood, of Dallas; Charles Overton, of Kansas City; Kay Overton, of Dallas; Deborah and Steve Staples, of Little Rock; Carmella Patzloff, Arthur Crispino and Marsha Crispino, all of Florida.

Graveside services will be held at Shadowlawn Cemetery in Malvern at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2020, with the Rev. Russell Breshears officiatin­g, and under the direction of J.A. Funk Funeral Home.

Lona I. Shaw

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Lona Imogene Shaw, 80, of Hot Springs Village, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 26, 2020.

She was born on Nov. 21, 1939, in Hot Springs, Ark.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Shaw; and daughter, Charlotte Shaw.

Loving survivors include her son, Terry Lee Shaw (Kim), of Sherwood, Ark.; daughters, Phyllis Brown (John), Nelda Shores, Margaret Wood and Barbara Tillery (Tony), all of Hot Springs, Ark.; several grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ozark Lithia Cemetery with Danny Tillery officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s include John Brown, Josh Tillery, Jeremiah Johnson, David Anemone, Scott Spangler and Lukas Hampton. Honorary pallbearer­s will be Tony Tillery and Ricky Wayne.

Margaret Young

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Margaret Young, 73, of Hot Springs Village, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020.

She was born Feb. 23, 1947, in Monticello, Ark., to the late Travis and Blanche (Phillips) Carr. Margaret was a retired legal secretary and a member of Marble Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, David Warren Young Sr.; sons, David Warren Young Jr. (Michele) and Jonathan Michael Young (Cathy Newell); grandchild­ren, David Warren “Trey” Young III (Casey), Lauren Hunter (Joshua), Kalina Young and Michael Young; brother, Travis Wayne Carr, and other siblings.

Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Wolf Cemetery, Oppelo, Ark.
