Absolute control

-

Dear editor:

In response to C.G. Smith’s letter, “Bringing it on ourselves” (Tues., April 28) I must state once again that “The Bible teaches us that God is in absolute control of everything, including the weather and all of nature’s forces.”

After reading your letter, it seems that you really don’t believe that God is in control of all things. And why is that?

First of all, you said “I, along with thousands of scientists blame humans for causing climate change. I noticed that you didn’t claim that all (or even most) scientists believe in manmade climate change. I would certainly think that there are a good many other scientists who believe that our weather is controlled entirely by God Who created it in the beginning.

There is absolutely no scientific evidence that air pollution can create storms such as tornadoes and hurricanes that are occurring with ever-increasing power and frequency! It many sound very sensational to make those wild claims, but why should we believe them without sufficient evidence?

You may ask why you should believe that God controls the weather and the climate. Because the Bible clearly tells us, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) If you really do believe in God, there’s your answer!

If you don’t believe in God, then you’ve got a lot more serious problems to worry about than your “climate change” theories!

If you will read the remainder of Genesis chapter 1 (1-31) you will discover that God created everything by merely speaking words! What power! And He created everything out of nothing which is literal true creation!

Matthew 19: 26 says “… with God all things are possible.” Also, read Mark 4:35-41 about how Jesus saved the lives of His disciples from a furious storm on the sea by commanding the storm to be “Quiet! Be still! — Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” The disciples were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey Him!” Can you see why I believe that God certainly has the power to control the weather and climate and everything else?

Look at Nahum 1:3 “His way is in the whirlwind and the storm.” Also, look at Zechariah 10:1 “… it is the Lord Who sends the thunderstorms.”

With all of this Bible revelation it is certainly not hard to believe that God sends tornadoes and hurricanes upon us!

You asked if God were responsible for hurting and even killing good people as well as the wicked. God is slow to anger, but His patience does have limits and He doesn’t promise that good people will be spared from all troubles. Life can come to an end very quickly! Have you been saved by trusting in Jesus Christ as your Savior before it is too late? When it comes time for you to die, are you certain that you will spend eternity in heaven?

And, what about the coronavirus? If we as a nation will turn back to God and His ways, He can easily heal our land from this plague! (Read 2 Chronicles 7:13, 14.) Lloyd Hoffman Hot Springs
