Who to believe?

Dear editor:

A few weeks ago, according to a report on Politico, Michelle Obama made one of those PSAs telling the citizens of Washington, D.C., to wear masks, stay at home, 6 feet apart, etc. All the usual we’re all familiar with by now. Sounds good so far except the day before her husband, Barack, was seen at the exclusive Robert Trent Jones Country Club in Virginia. He had been driven the 40 miles in a chauffeur-driven limo at taxpayers’ expense. Seems the rules only apply to you and me not the Democrat elites. Do as we say, not as we do. Enjoy that cup of tea Casey; you look sillier all the time.

Liberal Steve objects to Sen. Tom Cotton’s views on China. Let’s see, he’s a former army intelligence officer who now sits on the Senate Foreign Intelligence Committee. Sitting where he is he can be the bad cop calling out China; doesn’t need to be the good cop. Trump as president is in a different seat more carrot and stick, praising Xi and China when getting them to agree to a new trade policy, one more favorable to America then using the stick to chastise them over an issue like the Wuhan virus.

Going back to at least Clinton the conventional thinking, in “The Swamp,” on trade with China has been essentially appeasement. If we give them the better deal they’ll be less likely to cause trouble. The problem, which Trump saw many years ago, what we were really doing with those $700 billion deficits, was paying for their military buildup. Thirty years ago China had a big army but really couldn’t project power but because of our past trade deals with them they now have a big navy, air force and even space force financed by you and me. They now can threaten not only their neighbors but the rest of the world as well.

Years ago Reagan called the USSR an “Evil Empire.” The Democrats, their allies in the Lame Stream Media went OMG!, that old fool is going to cause WWIII. RR, of course, knew exactly what he was doing. His military buildup opposed by the Democrats and his other policy changes eventually led to the Evil Empire collapsing.

So who should we believe on China, the former army intelligence officer or Liberal Steve? Where do you think Liberal Steve gets his so-called intelligence? No doubt the same place Kool-Aid, excuse me, tea-drinking Casey gets his golfing information, Morning cup of Hate or maybe even that fountain of misinformation and hysteria Rachel Maddow? No thanks, I’ll stick with the Real News, Sen. Cotton, and Trump. Larry Bauer Hot Springs Village
