NPMC names new chief financial officer

National Park Medical Center announced Tuesday that Mike Long has been named the hospital’s new chief financial officer, just four days after naming Scott Smith as its new chief executive officer.

“We are very excited to have Mr. Long step into this important leadership role,” Joann Ettien, interim CEO, said in a news release. “He brings 40 years of hospital finance experience to the table,

and is committed to bringing energy, communicat­ion and results to NPMC through his leadership. I know that he will help us further advance our mission of ‘Making Communitie­s Healthier.’”

Long joins NPMC from Astria Sunnyside Hospital in Sunnyside, Wash., where he served as CFO for three years, according to the release.

“National Park Medical Center is such an important part of this community,” Long said in the release, “and I am really excited to take on this role and join this incredible team of profession­als. I look forward to building on the strong foundation that already exists and helping the leadership team look for even more ways to improve the overall health and well-being of this community.”

In Long’s experience as a CFO in the LifePoint Health system, he helped lead hospitals in achieving the company’s “High 5 Award” for outstandin­g results and service and implemente­d Studer principles to enhance customer service and core measure scores, the release states.

Long holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo.

He and his wife, Kim, will reside in Hot Springs.
