Sailing to calm waters

- John Grillo Hot Springs

Dear editor:

A good man, a friend of mine, asked me what the future looks like after we endure our current problems as a nation and as a people. What happens to us, our way of life, and what we may have accumulated in the process of living? This is my personal opinion:

First, we must have faith and trust in our Maker — and hope. There are enough folks in the U.S. who form a Christian base, formally called the “Christian Minority” and we, as a group, are angered by how conservative beliefs have been scoffed at and disregarded. We were raised, and we have lived our lives, treating others as we would like to be treated and working hard to raise good families who treat others with respect and dignity. As a group, we are offended by how liberals over the past 30 years have disrespected us and the country we love — a country founded upon principles of behavior and “In God We Trust.” I am told that there are those who are not in the “Christian Minority” who are also offended and agree that many things must change.

Secondly, I believe that the vast majority of our 330 million people have enjoyed “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” and now suffer from the loss of it. The “Sleeping Giant” is being awakened and we want our way of life without the ruling elites telling us what to do when we know they are wrong and only attempting to establish “pecking order” over us as if we were chickens in the yard. We have enjoyed our freedom and we resent it being taken away from us. Just as foreigners can never invade us due to the simple fact that us commoners have guns (and we will use them), we have pride of ownership and pride in our ability to earn money, save money, and enjoy nice lifestyles, and no one will be allowed to take that away from us. No one will be allowed to take away our vote nor will they be allowed to form coups to remove our duly elected officers.

Thirdly, while the “USS United States” is in the middle of a rough voyage, “We the People” are righting the ship and sailing her into calm waters. We know now and understand now that there is a swamp in D.C. to be drained and that our great country needs to self-protect by becoming more self-sufficient in the production of what we need. We will, in the future, not depend upon a foreign country (China) to make our products and supply our medicine while making obscene profits. We have had enough. We will become stronger than ever before. Along with this, the obscene profits made by the drug companies who can pay (at our expense) their CEOs tens of millions of dollars per year must be regulated. The same must be said regarding the insurance companies who provide health care insurance.
