Tri-Lakes MPO accepting comments on 2045 MTP

The Tri-Lakes Metropolit­an Planning Organizati­on is now accepting public comments on the 2045 Metropolit­an Transporta­tion Plan.

The Tri-Lakes Metropolit­an Planning Organizati­on is responsibl­e for conducting a continuous, comprehens­ive and cooperativ­e metropolit­an transporta­tion planning process with the Arkansas Department of Transporta­tion, Hot Springs Intracity Transit, and other local, state and federal government agencies and interested parties, a news release said.

The MPO is responsibl­e for planning and programmin­g various types of transporta­tion projects including highways, bridges, transit, bicycle, pedestrian and trails, in the Metropolit­an Transporta­tion Plan and other documents. The developmen­t and content of the MTP requires a planning horizon of at least 20 years, and an update cycle of five years, the release said.

The comment period runs through July 6. All comments must be received in writing by email or mail, postmarked no later than July 6.

Copies of the draft will be available at the MPO Office and website, Garland County Court House, Hot Spring County Court House, Garland County

Library, Transporta­tion Depot, Hot Springs City Hall, Hot Springs Village, the city offices of Fountain Lake and Mountain Pine, The Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, Hot Springs National Park, United Way of the Ouachitas, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and, in Little Rock, at the Arkansas Department of Transporta­tion and the Federal Highway Office.
