POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Brian Thompson, aka “Shufffield,” age 53, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Hot Springs, passed on Monday, June 8, 2020, in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born Aug. 7, 1966, in Hot Springs, and was loved and nurtured by his mother, Nancy Thompson, and Frank Tops. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Jordan Thompson; his mother and bonus father, Nancy Thompson Dedmon, and M.T. Dedmon; and several close relatives.

Brian was a graduate of Hot Springs High School Class of

1984, where he excelled in football. He attended Bishop College in Dallas, Texas. Brian developed great work ethics and was a great provider for his family. He began his working career at Delta Plastic, now Berry Plastic. He later began a longtime career with the Job Corps System. His first job location was Ouachita Job Corps, Royal, Ark., Frenchburg Job Corps, Frenchburg, Ky., and Mingo Job Corps, Puxico, Mo. Brian was also an ordained deacon and he loved to sing.

He left a lasting impression in the hearts of his children, Michael Jordon and Monique (Lindaniel) West; his brothers, Frank (Vanessa) Thompson and Gregory (Claira) Thompson, of Hot Springs; his father, Frank Tops; his bonus and extended siblings, Kathryn (James) Bruton, Vancouver, Wash., Marilyn Hughes, Tacoma, Wash., Charlotte (John) Primm, Malvern, Lorrie Harrison, of McKinley, Texas, Vance Dedmon, of Portland, Ore., and Ronald Davis, of Hot Springs; 13 grandchild­ren and five great-grandchild­ren; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Walk-through visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today, June 16,

2020, at the funeral home, masks must be worn to enter the funeral home and they will not be provided. All COVID-19 regulation­s will be enforced at both services.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020, on the lawn of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, 497 Crescent Ave. Social distancing will be enforced, please bring your lawn chairs and umbrellas.
