Kathleen (Burke) Murphy passed away on July 5, 2020.

She was born on Nov. 6, 1946, to Joe Burke and Anne (Barnhart) Burke. She grew up in Beeville and Carrollton, Texas.

She was predecease­d by her parents and her brothers, Pat and Tim Burke.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jay Murphy. She is also survived by her brother, Stephen Burke (Linda), of Dripping Springs, Texas; by her two sons, Max Murphy, of Clinton, Ark., and Dr. Jason Murphy (Maggie), of Belchertow­n, Mass.; and by her granddaugh­ter, Nora Dyer-Murphy; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was often involved with Murphy-Pitard Jewelers for 26 years. She was a member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Hot Springs and Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church in El Dorado, where she served on the Altar Guild. She volunteere­d for the South Arkansas Symphony, the South Arkansas Arts Center and the Jackson House.

She attended Gulf Park College and the University of Houston.

She loved drawing, painting and travel. She loved her family and friends. She loved visiting her family’s ranch in South Texas.

Her family thanks Dr. William Cole and Dr. Edward Taliaferro Warren for their friendship and their expertise. They also thank the staff at National Park Medical Center for their care and skill.

Due to the pandemic, a service is being held with just a few family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church or to the charity of your choice.
