Marion Q. Berthia, 93, was born on the 16th day of December in 1927 in Des Arc, Ark. He transition­ed on Friday, the 10th day of July in 2020 in Hot Springs at his home.

Marion committed his life to his beautiful wife, Imogine Berthia, who preceded him in death.

Marion was also preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Berthia and James Quarles; two sons, Kerry and Gregory Berthia; his sisters, Margaret Bell Berthia and Mary Jean Smith; and two brothers, Houston and Charles Berthia.

Marion accepted Christ at an early age. He was a long-standing member of St. Mark Baptist Church.

Marion took pride in providing for his country and his family. Marion was a veteran of World War II. After the war, he vested most of his working years to the Arlington Hotel, where he worked for 74 years. He also worked at Miller’s Chicken and Steak House for many years. Marion was a strong and humble man. To sum him up, it could be said that he was a “real man.” A man of great character, charm and charisma. Most would say he was a cool, laid back and giving family man.

Marion leaves behind daughters Kimberly Berthia-Lee (Rickey) and Mona Berthia, and his grandchild­ren, India Berthia, Denisia Berthia and K-vin Berthia. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

The visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Carrigan Memorial Funeral Services Inc., located at 336 E. Grand, Hot Springs, AR 71904. The burial will immediatel­y follow at Crestview Cemetery.
