Couple caught skinny dipping in creek arrested for theft of vehicle from Cabot
A Cabot woman and a homeless man found skinny dipping in Hot Springs Creek early Sunday were arrested after their vehicle was determined to be stolen from Cabot.
Christy Rutherford Duran, 41, of Cabot, and Joshua Robert Grable, 21, who lists “city streets” as his address, were both taken into custody shortly after 3 a.m. and charged with a felony count of theft by receiving, punishable by up to
10 years in prison. They were each being held on
$3,500 bond and were set to appear Monday in Garland County District Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly before 3 a.m., Hot Springs police located a gray 2019 Kia Rio at Hot Springs Skate Park, 411 Valley St., that was unoccupied and a check of the license plate showed it had been reported stolen from Cabot on Friday.
Officers noted several items, including cellphone and a woman’s purse, inside the car. They searched the nearby area and found Duran and Grable swimming naked in Hot Springs Creek alongside the Greenway Trail just north of Runyon Street.

Grable had a probation absconder warrant so he was detained.
While speaking to him, officers noted a bulge in his pants pocket and among the items found were the keys to the Rio.
After being read their rights,
Duran and Grable were questioned and both reportedly admitted to taking the car from
Cabot so they were taken into custody. The owner of the vehicle in Cabot was contacted and wanted to press charges.
When questioned again at the detention center, Grable said they took the car from a residence in
Cabot on Friday, noting Duran took the keys and he drove it away.
Duran was questioned and stated she thinks they took the car three days earlier, but noted she was “under the influence” and didn’t remember how they took the car, but remembered that Grable drove “the whole time.”
