A Hot Springs man was arrested on a felony warrant Wednesday afternoon stemming from allegations he pistol-whipped another man and chased him with a gun through a local restaurant in May.

Christian Delano Wilson, 25, who lists a Linwood Avenue address, was taken into custody around 4:15 p.m. and charged with aggravated assault, punishable by up to six years in prison.

Wilson, who also had a warrant for failure to appear, was being held on a $5,000 bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on May 27, shortly after 1:30 p.m., Hot Springs police responded to Burger King, 228 W. Grand Ave., regarding a disturbance.

Officers spoke to a man who said a few minutes earlier he was assaulted with a handgun by a known suspect, identified as Wilson. He said he saw Wilson in the parking lot and confronted him about damage to his vehicle he believed Wilson had caused earlier in the week.

Wilson allegedly ran toward the man, pulled out a handgun and

struck him in the head with it. The man fled into the restaurant with Wilson chasing him, still brandishing the gun. As they entered the restaurant, Wilson allegedly racked the slide of the gun, ejecting a 9-mm cartridge onto the floor, where it was later recovered by officers.

The man fled through the restaurant and out the back door and was able to get away from Wilson, who then fled the scene. Officers noted the man was bleeding from a contusion to the back of his head where he was reportedly struck with the gun.

Officers also spoke to a female employee at Burger King who reportedly knew Wilson and had witnessed the confrontation and confirmed Wilson was the one involved.

Detective Scott Lampinen later reviewed video security footage from inside the restaurant which reportedly corroborated the victim’s version of events. He was able to compare a driver’s license photo of Wilson to the suspect seen in the video and confirm it was him and a warrant for Wilson’s arrest was later issued.

According to court records, Wilson was previously arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assault on Sept. 3, 2016, stemming from allegations he pointed a handgun at a woman. The charge was later withdrawn by prosecutors on Aug. 22, 2017, “for further investigation.”
