Jimmy D. Clowers Sr.

-

Jimmy “Jim” Donovan Clowers Sr. was a passionate man driven to achieve greatness. He was a singer/songwriter, who loved strumming his guitar and writing songs, and was always determined to find that one hit to better take care of his family. Remember the IQ Zoo, if you do, then you most likely saw Jim, who was an adored animal trainer. He was at his happiest when he was either making music, training animals or spending time with his family. Jim was also proud of recently becoming a published author who captured his amazing stories while working at the Animal Behavior Enterprises, IQ Zoo and later, Clowers Zoo with IQ. Jim loved life and would never want any of his family or friends to be sad at this time. He would want folks to come together and share their memories, laugh a little and just smile. Some of you may remember Jim as a local entertainer who performed at various locations around town for the better part of 50 years. He was also an avid photographer and for many years took pictures for schools, proms, weddings and more. Jim was never without a camera. Jim loved his Harley, ‘65 Mustang, and ‘69 Chevelle Super Sport and may have been burning rubber around the streets of Hot Springs in his younger days. Jim understood that grief never ends, but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love, and Jim fiercely loved his family and friends.

Jim joined the heavenly gates on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, and is now resting peacefully with his parents, Donavan and Mary, and his brothers, Larry and Richard.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Linda Severs Clowers, her two children, Micki Foshee and Mindy Washington (Neil); his four children, Jimmy Donovan Clowers Jr. (Adrieanna), Laurie Sheets (Deno), Amy Childs (Clint) and John Clowers (Amanda); and 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Debra York, of Albuquerque. Additionally, a slew of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, including many, many friends.
