Local teen arrested following shooting

A local teen was arrested on felony charges early Saturday after a shooting in the 700 block of Spring Street that left a female victim with minor injuries, Hot Springs police said.

Julius Joseph Dominic Nash, 19, who lists an address in the 1400 block of Spring Street, was booked into the Garland County Detention Center shortly after 4 a.m. on charges of committing a terroristi­c act, punishable by up to life in prison, and second-de--

gree domestic battery.

He was being held on zero bond and will likely be arraigned Monday in Garland County District Court.

“We had several shots fired calls throughout the night,” HSPD Officer 1st Class Omar Cervantes told The Sentinel- Record Saturday morning. “Around midnight, they dispatched officers to a shots fired call in the 700 block of Spring Street.”

He said officers located a female victim who had been shot in the foot and arrested Nash nearby. He noted the injuries to the victim were minor and not life-threatenin­g.

According to court records, Nash was arrested Jan. 4, 2020, on felony counts of fleeing in a vehicle and theft by receiving of a firearm. He was released two days later on $4,500 bond and pleaded not guilty to the charges on March 9. He is set for a hearing on Oct. 26 on the admissibil­ity of statements he made after his arrest.

Nash was previously arrested Dec. 5, 2019, on a felony charge of second- degree battery, punishable by up to six years in prison, after allegedly stabbing another man, 23, after asking the man for a ride. He pleaded not guilty to the charge on Feb. 18, 2020, and is set for a dispositio­n hearing on Nov. 17.
