Report: Teen allegedly fired multiple times into apartment

- STEVEN MROSS

A local teen with a history of violent offenses who was arrested early Saturday after allegedly shooting a woman in the foot had reportedly fired multiple rounds into an apartment occupied by the woman and two others.

Julius Joseph Dominic Nash, 19, who lists an address in the 1400 block of Spring Street, was taken into custody at 12:08 a.m. and charged with felony counts of committing a terroristic act, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 10 years.

Nash was being held on zero bond and was set to appear Monday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit released Monday, around midnight Saturday, Hot Springs police were in the area of the 700 block of Spring Street when they heard several gunshots and responded to the nearby apartments at 760 Spring, where they found a woman, 22, with a gunshot wound to her right foot.

HSPD Officer 1st Class Omar Cervantes told The Sentinel-Record on Saturday that officers had responded to numerous “shots fired” calls “throughout the night” late Friday and early Saturday.

The affidavit states Officer Tyler Ward saw a group of people running toward his unit as he approached the apartments and one witness told him a white male with long hair, wearing a buttoned-up shirt and dark pants, had fired multiple times into one of the apartments. He said the male then jumped a fence and ran toward Autumn Street.

Cpl. Zac Rostan pulled into the parking lot of Greenley Foods, 105 Vine St., and spotted a male matching the suspect’s description and noted he had a large tear in his pants “consistent with being torn while attempting to jump something as a fence.”

Meanwhile, other witnesses told officers the shooter was named “Julius.” The male Rostan detained was identified as Julius Nash and he reportedly told Rostan he had a firearm in his pocket. He was found to be in possession of a 9-mm which had an empty magazine. He had an additional magazine in his other pocket with 11 rounds in it.

The three occupants of the apartment, including the woman who was shot, reportedly all identified Nash as the shooter. The report did not indicate what relationship, if any, Nash had with the people in the apartment or a possible motive.

According to court records and previous reports, Nash was last arrested on Jan. 4, 2020, after allegedly firing a gun and then fleeing from police with two children in the car. He was charged with felony fleeing and theft by receiving of a firearm after the gun was determined to be stolen as well as

misdemeanor child endangerment charges. He was released two days later and pleaded not guilty to the charges on March

9. He is set for an omnibus hearing on Oct. 26.

Nash was previously arrested on Sept. 5, 2019, after allegedly shooting a gun several times into an occupied car on April 19, hitting one man in the shoulder. He was charged with three counts of committing a terroristic act, one punishable by up to life in prison and two by up 20 years, and one count of first-degree battery, punishable by up to 20 years.

Nash was released on Oct. 19 on a $ 50,000 bond and pleaded not guilty to the charges in Garland County Circuit Court on Nov. 5. The case was continued multiple times and is now set for an omnibus hearing on the charges on Nov. 17.

On Dec. 5, Nash was arrested again and charged with second- degree battery, punishable by up to six years in prison, after allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old man twice in the chest, puncturing one of his lungs, two days earlier after the man reportedly gave Nash a ride to Cones Road where they got into an argument.

Nash was later released on a $2,500 bond and pleaded not guilty to the charge on Feb.
