Lakeside loses first game of season

Lakeside ( 16- 0, 12- 0 5A- South) suffered its first loss of the season in a non- conference matchup at the hands of Benton (11-2, 9-0 5A Central) Monday night.

The Lady Panthers, described by Lakeside head coach Rhonda Thigpen as a “hot hitting Benton team,” outscored the Rams, 25-12, 25-20,

25-18.

Sophomore Olivia Porter led the Rams with

19 assists and nine digs. Senior Maddie Trusty finished with six digs and six kills, senior Macy Landry tallied 15 digs, and senior Wesley Divers had four digs and eight kills. Junior Sarah Porter had six kills, senior Adachi Igbokidi four kills, senior Katie Ballard eight kills, sophomore Kaitlyn Threadgill 10 digs, junior Vivi Mardis five digs and sophomore Katherine Foreman had two digs.

• The junior varsity Lady Panthers took a 2-0 win over Lakeside, 25-13, 25-19.

Sophomore Brooklyn Bourland led with five assists. Classmate Paige Woods had two digs, sophomore Carsen Cordell tallied four kills, Foreman added six digs, Threadgill had five digs and sophomore Beau Kuhn came away with seven digs.

Lady Wolves top Lady Trojans

PEARCY — Hot Springs fought back, but it was unable to secure the win as Lake Hamilton (8-5, 8-2 5A South) gathered enough energy to take a 3-1 win over the Lady Trojans (10-4, 7-3) Thursday at Wolf Arena.

Lake Hamilton took wins of 25-14 and 25-15 before Hot Springs won the third set, 25-22. The Lady Wolves secured the win in the fourth, 25-20.

Senior Jurnee Hicks led Hot Springs with 11 kills, 23 digs and seven assists. Classmate Jaylia Reed tallied 17 digs and eight kills, junior Marlissa Archie finished with seven kills, four blocks, 10 digs and 11 assists, senior Katyra Johnson added 13 digs, junior Bella Timm had 12 digs, and junior Anecia Owens had three blocks.

The Lady Trojans managed to turn things around quickly, picking up a three set win against White Hall Tuesday, 25-20, 25-13, 25-20. Archie tallied 11 kills and Hicks had nine kills.

Hot Springs hosts Lakeside next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
