Rams solid at invitation­al cross country meet

BRYANT — Lakeside’s senior girls cross country team put up 46 points to win the Danny Westbrook Bryant Invitation­al cross country meet Tuesday. The senior boys and junior girls both finished second, and the junior boys were third.

Sophomore Whitley Terry became the first Lady Ram to run a sub-20 minute race, crossing the finish line in 19:37.70. Senior Natalie Jennings took sixth with a season-best 20:56.80, sophomores Molly Fortin (eighth) and Elizabeth Chipps

(17th) and freshman Ivey James (14th) rounded out the team’s scoring five.

Junior Dylan Dew led the Rams with a third-place finish while classmates Brayden

(21st) and Barrett James (27th), senior Caleb Wrubluskey (11th, season best 17:06.80) and freshman Joseph Bariola (18th) rounded out the scoring. Magnet Cove senior Colin Julian finished 144th overall.

Eighth- graders Maya Hubbard ( 12: 58.90), Annabel Sarver ( 13: 21.20) and Hope Webb (13:31.50) swept the top three spots in the 2-mile race with Hubbard leading the race wire-to-wire. Seventh-graders Kayleigh Janes (21st) and Ava Riggin (23rd) rounded out the team’s top five, leaving the junior Lady Rams tied for first, and Bryant’s sixth runner came in ahead of Lakeside eighth-grader Adalie Hall (27th) to take the win. Magnet Cove freshman Brailyn Koller was 47th overall.

The junior Rams were led by seventh-grader Richard Lance, who finished fourth with a strong kick at the end. Classmates Luke Wrubluskey (17th) and Mason Ritter (22nd) and eighth-graders Maddex Ritter (23rd) and Griffin Harper (28th) rounded out the top five for the team. Mason edged out his brother Maddex by 0.30 seconds.

Lakeside dominates Texarkana on road

TEXARKANA — Lakeside swept its seventh grade, junior varsity and varsity matches at Texarkana Tuesday afternoon without dropping a single set.

The varsity Lady Rams ( 17-1, 13- 0 5A-South) got on the Lady Razorbacks early with a 25-5 win of the first set before winning the last two, 25-10, 25-14.

Olivia Porter led the Rams with 29 assists, two kills and an ace, Macy Landry had 13 digs and two aces, Wesley Divers had seven kills, seven digs and an ace, and Sarah Porter had five kills and three aces. Adachi Igbokidi led the team offensivel­y with nine kills, Katie Ballard had seven kills with three aces and two digs, Kaitlyn Threadgill had three digs, and Carsen Cordell finished with three kills.

• The JV squad took wins of 25-12 and 25-10. Brooklyn Bourland had 16 assists with five kills, Cordell led the offense with 10 kills and three digs, Claire Graham had six kills, Gracie Ruckstuhl had five, and Olivia Porter finished with three. Threadgill and Kate Foreman led the back line with eight digs each, Beau Kuhn had five, and Vivi Mardis finished with four digs and an ace.

Fountain Lake tops LH, Magnolia

FOUNTAIN LAKE — Last year’s Class 3A runner-up Fountain Lake continues to dominate the court, taking road wins over Lake Hamilton and Magnolia on Monday and Tuesday.

The Lady Cobras (16-2, 10-1 4A-West) took a 3-1 win over Lake Hamilton Monday, winning the first two sets, 25-17 and

25-17, before Lake Hamilton won the third, 25-23, to force a deciding fourth set that Fountain Lake took, 25-12.

Patience Campbell finished with 27 service points, 12 digs and three kills in the match. Landry Cate had 17 kills, six digs and five service points, and Sophie Skinner finished with 45 assists.

In Tuesday’s match at Magnolia, the Lady Cobras swept all three sets, 25-11,

25-14, 25-19.

Cate finished with 12 service points and eight kills, and Presley Hamric had 10 kills, seven digs and five service points.

• The Lady Cobras JV squad won their match in straight sets as well, 25

19, 25-13. Elizabeth Roark led the team with nine service points, five kills and two aces.

The freshman squad defeated Magnolia, 26-24, 20-25, 15-13.
