Lady Cobras beat Arkadelphi­a, Paris in long day of games

FOUNTAIN LAKE — Fountain Lake had a big Saturday with the varsity volleyball team taking a pair of wins over Arkadelphi­a and Paris while the junior varsity took a win over Arkadelphi­a.

The Lady Cobras (19-2, 12-1 4A-West) started the day on the road at Arkadelphi­a, taking a 3-1 win over the Lady Badgers, 25-20, 25-13, 22-25, 25-20.

Landry Cate led the Lady Cobras with 14 kills and

13 service points, Patience Campbell had 15 service points and nine kills, and Sophie Skinner finished with 46 assists, 10 service points and eight kills.

The Lady Cobras struggled early against Paris Saturday afternoon before taking a 3-2 win, 25-27, 25

14, 17-25, 25-22, 15-12.

Campbell led the team behind the line with 21 service points, Presley Hamric had 22 digs and 15 kills, Cate finished with 15 digs, 14 kills and six service points, and Skinner had 54 assists, 10 kills and nine service points.

The JV squad took a 2-0 win over Arkadelphi­a, 25

21, 25-21. Kamryn Whiley led the team with 28 assists and 14 service points.

Rams sweep Mena

Lakeside’s volleyball team (18-1, 12-0 5A-South) took a 3-2 win against a “very talented Mena team,” head coach Rhonda Thigpen said.

Mena got off to a strong start, winning the first two sets before the Rams swept the last three for the win, 12-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-22, 16-14.

Katie Ballard led the team offensivel­y with 17 kills and two solo and two assisted blocks, Wesley Divers had 13 kills with 21 digs, Sarah Porter added nine kills and two solo and six assisted blocks, and Carson Cordell finished with four kills and an assisted block.

Macy Landry led the back row with 33 digs, Vivi Mardis added 14 digs, Kaitlyn Threadgill had 14 digs and an ace, Olivia Porter tallied 50 assists and eight digs, and Adachi Igbokidi had five kills and a solo block.

Lakeside’s JV squad did not drop a set, 25-13, 25-17

Cordell led the team with 10 kills, Brooklyn Bourland had 17 assists, three digs, two kills and two aces, Claire Graham had five kills and an assisted block, and Olivia Porter had a kill, an ace and an assisted block. Mardis had eight digs, Threadgill finished with six kills, and Kate Foreman tallied seven digs.

The Rams travel to Hot Springs to face the Lady Trojans today at 4:30 p.m.
