Jerrel R. Arnold

Jerrel Robert “Buck” Arnold, (8/13/28 – 11/26/20). The youngest son of Dewey and Carrie (Coleman) Arnold, Buck was born in Pearcy, Ark., and spent his early childhood on the family farm. They then moved to Hot Springs, where he graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1947. Always a hard worker, he held numerous jobs as a paperboy and a Western Union Telegram delivery agent during his youth. He utilized the proceeds of these jobs to fund his passion for motorcycli­ng. After graduating high school, Buck enlisted in the Unites States Air Force and was stationed in Bremerhave­n, Germany, supporting of the Berlin Airlift after the closing days of World War II as an aircraft mechanic and navigator, following all of his brothers in military service.

After serving four years in the USAF, he furthered his education by attaining a Mechanical Engineerin­g degree from Wayne State University, funded by the G.I. Bill (while working full time at the Sterling Axle plant). His engineerin­g specialty was engine design, developmen­t and production, where he held supervisor­y positions at all of Ford Motor Company’s engine plants in Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago and Lima, Ohio. During his tenure at Cleveland Engine Plant, he met his future wife, Dorothy Bruce, were married in 1957, and became proud parents of two children, Bruce and Brian. In his spare time, Buck continued to pursue his interest in aviation by obtaining his single/multi-engine, and instrument pilot ratings.

Retiring from Ford Motor Corporatio­n after 45 years of service, Buck and Dorothy returned to his beloved Hot Springs, Ark., where he enjoyed golfing, motorcycli­ng, private aviation and deer hunting with his many friends and acquaintan­ces.

Buck was preceded in death by Dorothy, his loving wife of 61 years, his bothers, Leslie, Loal, and Wilmer and sisters, ErCell (Teal) and Imogene (Bearfield).

He is survived by his two sons, Bruce (Amy) and Brian (Amy) Arnold.

A graveside service will take place 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lowe Cemetery.

Roger L. Buttrum

MOUNTAIN PINE — Roger Lee Buttrum, 63, of Mountain Pine,

Ark., passed away Nov. 23, 2020. He was born April 10, 1957, in Hot Springs, to Columbus Calvin and Lennie (Rooks) Buttrum.

Roger was a beloved father, “GP”, uncle, brother, and friend. He was a very talented auto body repair man and mechanic. Roger enjoyed playing drums in his band, Code Blue. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his fiance, Merci Hamilton; sons, Rodney Buttrum (Anissa), Derick Buttrum (Adrianna), Fabian Buttrum (Lenae); brothers, Jerry Buttrum (Iva), Ronnie Buttrum (Lori); and four grandchild­ren.

Barbara J. Daniel

Barbara Joyce Daniel, 80, of Hot Springs, Ark. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020.

She was born Sept. 15, 1940 to the late Richard & Hazel (Beck) Free. Barbara was a member of Central Baptist Church and a retired Business Manager with Cutter Morning Star School.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Free Jr.

Survivors include her children Tom Daniel Jr. (Kathy) and Tamera Gaye Nation; siblings Shirley Tarvin, John Free, Wayne Free, Jayne Richardson and Joe Free; grandchild­ren Dana Trott (Eric), Natalie Nation, Trent Daniel (Hannah) and Hayden Daniel; four great-grandchild­ren and numerous nieces & nephews.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. today at Morning Star Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s are Joe Free, Wayne Free, Trent Daniel, Hayden Daniel, Tom Daniel Jr. and Eric Trott.

Edith D. Dickson

Edith Dortha Dickson, 89, passed away on Dec. 6, 2020.

She was born in Jessievill­e, Ark. on Feb. 22, 1931 to John and Minnie Mc Earl.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. - noon, Saturday for those who cannot attend the graveside service at 2 p.m. at Mountain Valley Cemetery.

Travis J. Diggs

Travis Junior Diggs, 56, of Hot Springs, Ark. passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.

He was born Feb. 18, 1964 in Hot Springs. Travis was a graduate of Mountain Pine High School. He retired from Hot Springs Water Treatment Plant and also worked at Don’s Country Butcher and Reynolds Greenhouse.

Travis is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Travis Diggs, sister Teresa Miller, maternal grandparen­ts Eula & Ervan Wacaster and paternal grandparen­ts Martin & Lonetta Diggs.

Survivors include, his mother Willene (Wacaster) Diggs; brothers Tim, Thomas & Tony Diggs; and several nieces and nephews.

Paul Graves Jr.

A walk-through visitation for Paul Graves Jr., who passed away Nov. 29, 2020, will be 5-7 p.m. today at Caruth-Hale Life Celebratio­n Center, 2529 Airport Road. A celebratio­n of Paul’s life will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Lake Hamilton Wolf Arena with Pastor Lance Arguello officiatin­g.

Jerry A. Hagle

Jerry A. Hagle, 72, of Hot Springs, passed away Dec. 7, 2020. Born in Eugene, Ore., he was the son of the late Kenneth and Betty Hagle.

An avid outdoorsma­n and former profession­al bowler, Jerry loved fishing, woodworkin­g, and his pups: Hildi, Max, Ricky and Lucy.

Jerry will be missed by his wife of almost 20 years, Carol Hagle; his sons Joshua and Kenneth Hagle; bonus children Jennifer Minchew, Michael Estright, and Jeffrey Estright; 10 grandchild­ren; three great-grandchild­ren; and the Grand Chapel Missionary Church Family. Mary E. Holcomb

ARKADELPHI­A — Mary Ethel Holcomb, 90, of Arkadelphi­a died Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.

Graveside will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at Oak Grove Cemetery at Fendley.

Robert Humane

Robert Humane, 77, of Hot Springs, passed away, Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020. He was born Aug. 19, 1943 in Miami, Fla. to the late Charlie & Hazel Layton Humane.

He was a member of the Latter Day Saints church. He didn’t have a lot to say until it came to sports; he loved his Razorbacks! He was an avid sports fan.

Ruby F. Jester

Ruby Faye Jester, age 85, passed away on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.

Ruby was born on July 6, 1935, in Newhope, the daughter of Barney Leroy Fox and Rosa Lee McLaughlin Fox. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Barney Jester; her parents; five sisters, Vida Fox, Gladys Fox, Virdean Whisenhunt, Lois Davis, and Mazie Cook; an infant grandson, Scott Alan Jester; and an infant great-grandson, Daniel Jester.

Ruby was a Christian and active member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Hot Springs since 1955. Ruby was widowed in 1971 at the age of 36 with three children still at home. She was an excellent seamstress, earning an income by sewing for others. She cleaned houses and was a caregiver to many. Countless hours of her time were given sitting with loved ones in the hospital.

She was employed by the Hot Springs School District in 1984 as a cafeteria worker at Hot Springs High School, becoming manager in 1986 until her retirement in 1996. During this same period, she worked part-time at K-mart as a cashier. Ruby said “I love you” with food, always thinking of a friend or neighbor to make a meal or bake a pie for. She was the embodiment of a “homemaker”. Her life was “lived to the fullest” with family, friends, and faith, with a servant’s heart.

Dementia stole her last two years, but her grandchild­ren will always fondly recall her dancing a little jig and singing, “I love you, a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck…”.

She is survived by three daughters and two son-in-laws, Beverly (Randall) Cragg of Benton, Sharon (Wayne) Fryar of Hot Springs, Charlotte Feemster of Hot Springs; her son and daughter-in-law, Greg (Tonja) Jester of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchild­ren, Tonya (Bill) Sams, Heather (Chris) Kindy, Shane Feemster, Jason (Jamie) Fryar, Erin Oseguera, Kyle (Elizabeth) Jester, and Ryan Jester; 11 great-grandchild­ren, Jordan, Austin, Adrian, Romeo, Brayden, Easton, Grant, Drew, Kate, Cecilia and Ruby Kay; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, in the First Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Jones officiatin­g.

Social distancing directives will be in place with no more than 66% of the total seating capacity occupied at the church and funeral home chapel, avoidance of physical contact and all attendees 10 years of age or older must be wearing a face covering at all times.

Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery in Newhope at 2 p.m.

Pallbearer­s will be Shane Feemster, Jason Fryar, Drew Feemster, Austin Coleman, Adrian Oseguera and Ryan Jester.

Honorary pallbearer­s are loving members of her church family and the staff of Southern Trace Rehab & Care Center.

Melody L. Jones

Melody Lynn Jones, 64, of Hot Springs, passed away, Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020. She was born Nov. 20, 1956 in Albany, Ga. She was a homemaker, administra­tive assistant for Jones Electrical Service and of Christian faith.

She was predecease­d by her daughter, Harmony Daniels.

Survivors include her husband, Chris W. Jones; parents, Daniel and Dolores Walker Davis; brothers, Flynn (Carol) Davis, David (Melanie) Davis; sister, Angela (Gary) Hill; one grandchild, Payton Daniels; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and her fur babies, Rocky and Dixie.

Graveside services will be at noon on Monday, Dec. 14, at Crestview Cemetery with Pastor Gary Smith officiatin­g.

Steven J. Kauffmann

Steven John Kauffmann, 56, of Hot Springs, passed away Dec. 3, 2020. Steven was born in Bridgeton, N.J., the son of Rosemary Hadlock and the late David W. Kauffmann.

Steven was a tree surgeon and owner of “Tree Busters,” a tree removal service.

He is survived by three children Ashley, Steven, and Samantha; two grandchild­ren, Willow and Isabella; and his mother, Rosemary Hadlock.

A Rosary will be held at St Mary’s at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Hot Springs.

Gregory T. Kaumeyer

Dr. Gregory Thomas Kaumeyer ( 11/ 15/ 1961-11/26/2020) was born to Thomas Ellsworth Kaumeyer and Fusae Kaumeyer on Nov. 15, 1961 in La Jolla, Calif.

Our dear Greg, Dr. K, daddy, husband, grandfathe­r & friend passed away on Thanksgivi­ng Day, Nov. 26, 2020. Greg was a long- time resident of Encinitas where he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropract­ic West in 1985. He began practicing chiropract­ic in 1986. He moved his family to Hot Springs, Ark. in 2007 where he shortly after opened Kaumeyer Chiropract­ic Center. Dr. K loved and admired all of his dear patients and the feelings were reciprocat­ed by all who knew him. We will all miss him immensely and remember him always; especially his laugh, his smile and his amazing kind heart. We will be sure to never forget his famous tagline, “Wiggle your toes!,” to distract us during adjustment­s. He had a way with all who loved him so dearly. Dr. K was a certified medical examiner for The Department of Transporta­tion, a chiropract­ic physician, and a specialize­d sports medicine chiropract­or.

Greg was predecease­d by his mother and father.

Greg’s survivors include his wife of 20 years; Elizabeth Quinn Kaumeyer, his five children; daughter, Caitlin Vanoni ( Ryan) and son, Aaron Kaumeyer, all of Carlsbad, Calif. Daughters, Emma Kaumeyer and Aedan Kaumeyer and son, Nolan Kaumeyer, all of Hot Springs Village, Ark. Greg is also survived by four grandchild­ren.

A Celebratio­n of Life is scheduled for 2 p. m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, at Entergy Park in Hot Springs, Ark. All are invited to attend.

Shaun E. Riddell

Shaun Edward Riddell, 43, of Hot Springs, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020. He was of the Christian faith.

He was predecease­d by his mother, Diana Riddell.

Survivors include his aunt and uncle, Margie and Mike Phillips, two uncles, Darrell and Eddie Riddell and several cousins.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Crestview Memorial Park with Pastor Wayne Murphree officiatin­g.
