- STEVEN MROSS

The second of two suspects being sought for allegedly shooting a local man Sept. 12 at a small private club was arrested Monday on felony charges after having been posted multiple times on social media.

Tony Deandry Collins, 46, a felon on parole, was taken into custody around noon Mon

day in the 700 block of Cones Road by members of the Arkansas Community Correction’s Special Response Team on charges of first-degree battery and possession of a firearm by certain persons, each punishable by up to 20 years in prison, for the shooting of Robert Johnson Jr., 49, inside the club at 1374 E. Grand Ave., shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 12.

Collins is being held on a zero bond parole hold and is set to appear Wednesday in Garland County District Court.

An alleged accomplice, Scottie Lane White, 54, of 200 Rector St., who is also a felon, was arrested the morning after the shooting on the same charges and has remained in custody in lieu of $150,000 since his arrest. He is set to be arraigned today in Garland County Circuit Court on the charges.

According to the affidavit for White’s charges, witnesses at the club said White and Collins were there talking about finding Johnson and both were reportedly armed with guns. Johnson arrived and an argument ensued during which Collins allegedly pulled out his gun and shot Johnson multiple times in the torso before he and White fled the scene.

Collins had pleaded guilty on Nov. 13, 2018, in circuit court to possession of cocaine with purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana with purpose to deliver and was sentenced to eight years in prison on each count, to run concurrently.

The first two charges stemmed from his arrest on March 9, 2018, during a raid on his then residence on Brad Street and the latter charge stemmed from his arrest on Feb. 27, 2018, in a traffic stop. An additional charge of possession of a firearm by certain persons, also stemming from the March 9 raid, was withdrawn.

Tony and his wife, Michelle Lynn Collins, 49, were previously arrested on numerous charges on Nov. 5, 2015, when police raided their former residence in the 100 block of Burroughs Street. Tony Collins pleaded guilty on Sept. 6,

2016, to two counts of possession with purpose to deliver, involving cocaine and marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The charges against Michelle Collins were withdrawn by prosecutors on Sept.

8, 2016.
