Hot Springs Toastmaste­rs to meet Saturday morning

Hot Springs Toastmaste­rs will hold its weekly club meeting at the usual 8 a.m. time Saturday, with some refreshmen­ts for the holiday for those meeting in person.

The club meets in-person plus offers a hybrid format, enabling Zoom attendance. Current plans are to meet on Jan. 2 but not on Dec. 26.

The club’s in-person meeting will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, 3804 Central Ave. Enter through the rear door off Files Road. Participan­ts are asked to bring or wear a mask. If attendance requires it, there will be access to a larger room for social distancing.

Holding hybrid meetings, which include both in-person and online Zoom attendance, is encouraged by Toastmaste­rs Internatio­nal.

Visitors are welcome to attend at no charge but are asked to contact the club in advance. The online meeting location cannot be accessed through either website. The club has been meeting online since late March.

Toastmaste­rs is a “supportive, inexpensiv­e way to learn speaking and leadership skills.” Training resources for speechmaki­ng are part of Toastmaste­rs’ support available to members. Toastmaste­rs Internatio­nal’s materials and programs also offer leadership developmen­t. New members are offered mentoring, either assigned or a chosen match. Meeting roles rotate from one week to the next. There is no charge to attend. Meetings normally are one hour long.
