China won the war

Dear editor: China just won the war against the U.S.A. They didn’t need bullets. They only needed was a pandemic and Uncle Joe’s son, Hunter. Wow!

Treasury hacking, election meddling, state budget crises, out of control COVID, and a very divided nation. We have literally fired the guns against ourselves.

COVID is China’s shot heard around the world. If you want it so bad, then be prepared to sacrifice millions of soldiers to maintain world order just like how the ol’ U.S.A did it back in the day with wars like Korea or Vietnam. Michael P. Lucas Hot Springs

Opposed to bonuses

Dear editor: There were $601,000 in bonuses to Garland County employees. They also received a 3% COLA increase on top of the bonuses with many employees currently making over $76,000 and the judge making over $90,000.

What a shame during this pandemic when citizens of Garland County are starving, with parents going without meals in order to feed their children, families can’t pay rent and utilities and mortgages, with businesses closing.

One person informed me that we really need some changes in the personnel of Garland County. Why not those within the system and those reading this article consider running in 2022 when all will be up for reelection? I strongly objected to the 2021 budget, the 3% COLA, and the $ 1,200 for full- time employees and $600 for part time employees, but was ignored like a knot on a log.

You have to be “inside” the system to get anything done.
