June B. Felix

-

The Hot Springs community lost one of its most generous volunteers with the passing of June Barry Felix, 80, on Dec. 14, 2020.

Daughter of the late Roy and Ida Barry, June grew up in Lake Providence, La., and was an honor graduate from Louisiana Tech in Ruston. In 1963, she moved to Galveston, Texas, where she met her husband-tobe, Leland Felix from Missoula, Mont. They were married on Dec. 27, 1965, in Lake Providence, La., and moved to Hot Springs shortly after.

June was employed by the U. S. Forest Service as a personnel specialist for the Ouachita Forest, retiring in

1989. After that, she helped start and run New Images Mastectomy Boutique for 17 years until 2010. June was Leland’s creative partner in the elaborate window displays that were a “must-see” drive-by event at

310 Higdon Ferry Road for so many holiday seasons in the Spa City. June was also associated with the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Organization for many years, culminating in her serving as secretary of the Board of Directors.

June is survived by her husband, Leland, and son, Lance, of Hot Springs, and by her sister, Ann Barry Cain of Brandon, Miss.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family plans a celebration of life at a later date. The full obituary and future arrangements will be announced by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs, Miss Arkansas Scholarship Foundation or church/charity of one’s own choosing.
