Lady Cobras dominate Lady Red Devils at home

FOUNTAIN LAKE — Fountain Lake allowed just 1 point in the second half of Saturday’s rout of Mountain Pine at Irvin J. Bass Gymnasium.

The Lady Cobras (5-6, 0-2 4A-7) led 17-5 after the first quarter before allowing a point to the Lady Red Devils (0-5, 0-1 2A-7) in the second for a 36-6 halftime lead. Presley Hamric led the Lady Cobras with 22 points followed by Kara Martin with 13 points.

The Lady Cobras will host Caddo Hills tonight.

Fountain Lake (VB) 42, Mountain Pine 31

Colby Lambert put up 22 points as the Cobras (10-1) rolled the Red Devils.

Fountain Lake took a 15-10 lead in the first quarter and led 29-16 at the break. The Red Devils shot back in the third to outscore the Cobras 9-5 before the Cobras held Mountain Pine to 6 points in the final stanza to hang on for the win.

Jayden Walker and Reydyn Dexter led the Red Devils with 10 points each. The Cobras will host Caddo Hills tonight with games starting at 5.

Fountain Lake (JG) 36, Mountain Pine 22

A big first-quarter performanc­e by the junior Lady Cobras (7-3) led to their win over the junior Lady Red Devils.

Fountain Lake outscored Mountain Pine 12-3 in the opening frame en route to a 20-9 halftime lead and 28-15 lead after three. Mary Drakes led the junior Lady Cobras with 15 points while Paige Davis added 10 points and Lainey Mungle tallied 8 points.

The junior Lady Cobras next play at Malvern on Jan. 4.

Lake Hamilton (VG) 70, Cabot 57

Lead by Hayleigh Wyrick’s 25 points and Aspen Thornton’s 23 points, the Lady Wolves improved to 6-3 on Friday with their road win over the Lady Panthers.

After jumping out to a 14-10 lead in the first quarter, the Lady Wolves outscored Cabot 23-15 in the second quarter and 23-12 in the third quarter to pick up the win. Ginny Higginboth­am added 12 points for Lake Hamilton while Audri Winfrey finished with 8 points.

The Lady Wolves will host Nashville on Dec. 28 at Wolf Arena.

Lakeside (JB) 46, Jacksonvil­le 36

The junior Rams (8-0) remained undefeated on the season with a road victory over the junior Titans Friday.

Skylar Purifoy led Lakeside with 14 points followed by Braylen Russell with 10 points. A.J. Howard and Ahmod Davis each added 8 points while Sam Grose finished with 6 points.

• The eighth-grade Rams also picked up a win to improve to 5-1 by downing the eighth-grade Titans 36-22. Luke Lumsden scored 11 points for Lakeside followed by Andy Martin with 10 points and Eric Leggette with 6 points.

The junior Rams travel to Prescott on Dec. 28 and will host Strong on Dec. 29.

Lakeside (JG) 44, Malvern 24

Amelia Rogers took over early on Thursday to rack up 33 points and 10 steals for a double-double in the junior Lady Rams’ road win over Malvern.

Rogers scored 27 of her points in the first half to put the junior Lady Rams at 7-1 heading into the Christmas break.

• The seventh-grade Lady Rams also won, 19-3, led by Devon Garner’s 12 points while the eighth grade Lady Rams won 24-6.

Nashville (JG) 49, Fountain Lake 12

The junior Lady Cobras were routed by the junior Lady Scrappers Thursday night on the road to fall to 6-3 on the season. Nashville also took the eighth-grade game, 20-17.

Hot Springs (JB) 38, Conway Blue 28

Kendall Williams put up 14 points on Thursday at Trojan Arena to lead the junior Trojans to a win over Conway Blue.

“We completed against a physical Conway team tonight,” said junior Trojans head coach Jay Williams. “Faced some adversity, but was able to settle in. Coach (Tommy) McMillan does a great job preparing his boys.”

Ty Honey followed Williams with 9 points for Hot Springs while T.J. Brogdon and Perry Jones each tallied 4 points.
