Nell Whisenhunt Pennington, 86, of Hot Springs, went to be with her Lord on Dec. 23,

2020.

She was born Aug. 26, 1934, in Cave Ridge, Ky., to the late Leslie Dewey Anderson and Fannie Lee Garmon Anderson. On Aug. 28, 1954, she married Ruben “Red” Hamilton Whisenhunt. Soon thereafter, they moved to Glenwood, Ark., where Red died on June 1, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-inlaw, Paul and Edith Anderson, Rondall and Edith Anderson and Stanley and Lavonne Anderson; her sisters, Alta Reid Taylor and Delsie Anderson; her brother, Leslie Anderson; her son and daughter- in- law, Michael and Carolyn Whisenhunt; and her grandchild­ren Lisa Babbs and Stacey Whisenhunt.

Nell’s priorities were her family and her faith. She cherished time with her children, grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. She was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church. She was a pediatric nurse for

36 years at Ouachita Memorial Hospital and National Park Memorial Hospital. Nell loved caring for children and their families.

She is survived by her son, Gene Hamilton ( Kathy) Whisenhunt, of Little Rock; her daughter, Robin Ann (Wesley) Miller, of Hot Springs; 11 grandchild­ren; and 20 great- grandchild­ren.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Belvedere Nursing Home for the genuine love and care for our mother. We deeply appreciate each one of you.

Due to the COVID pandemic, the family will have a private family service on Sunday, Dec.

27, 2020, at Davis-Smith Funeral Home in Hot Springs. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Glenwood.

Pallbearer­s will be Jared Whisenhunt, Matt Crow, Jason Crow, Justin Miller, Kevin Karm, Bubby Harrell and Barry McCaskill.
