HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — James T. (Jim) Chalikis, age 92, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died Dec. 24, 2020.

He was predecease­d by his wife, Edith (Edie).

Born in Chicago, Ill., Jim was a graduate of Lane Tech and Illinois College. He served as a U.S. Army intelligen­ce officer in Japan. Jim was a vice president and trust officer for American National Bank and Trust Company in Chicago for many years until accepting a position in Hot Springs Village as trust officer for Arkansas Bank and Trust Co., continuing with First Commercial Bank and retiring as a trust officer for Regions Bank.

Jim was a member of Village United Methodist Church.

He was a trusted adviser to many clients and friends. Jim was active in civic affairs. He was a past president of Hot Springs Village Evening Lions Club and a charter member of VFW Post 10483, as well as a Shriner. Jim enjoyed golf and boating on Lake Coronado.

Jim was a bat boy for the Chicago Cubs from 1943-1946, including the 1945 National League Champion team. He traveled with the team and was befriended by the players, Manager Charlie Grimm and the owner, Philip Wrigley, who paid a fine levied against Jim when he complained to an umpire about a call.

Memorials may be made to Village United Methodist Church, 200 Carmona Road, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909, http://villageumc.net. The Rev. Chris Hemund will officiate at a private inurnment service because of COVID-19.
