Formby, Lady Rams edge Jackets

Ronni Formby put up 23 points to lead Lakeside to a 4140 win over Sheridan Tuesday at Lakeside Athletic Complex.

After trailing 11-6 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Rams (10-5, 3-1 5A-South) limited Sheridan to only four points in the second to secure the 20-15 lead at halftime. Lakeside extended its lead slightly with the Lady Yellowjack­ets coming close towards the end.

“Offensivel­y we ran through our motion well and took good shots for the most part,” said Lakeside head coach Chris Brock. “Our transition game was big for us tonight as well.”

Formby added four rebounds and two steals. Adachi Igbokidi finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds, Sarah Porter tallied 4 points, three assists and two boards and Erika Bittinger finished with 10 assists and four boards.

“Erika continues to have a great senior year,” Brock said. “She always guarda the best player from the other team, and her leadership is vital to our team. She is a joy to coach.”

Lakeside hosts Texarkana Friday.

Lakeside (VB) 79, Sheridan 64

The Rams (12-3, 3-1) and the Yellowjack­ets (8-4, 0-1) both put up 12 points in the first stanza to knot the score, but Lakeside managed to hold the visitors to just 17 points while posting 24 of their own for a 7-point lead at halftime.

The Yellowjack­ets did not lay down and kept the hosts in their sights, but they fell behind in the fourth with Lakeside outscoring them 21-13.

Junior Wylyn Harris paced Lakeside with 24 points, senior Caleb Campbell tallied 22

points, and classmate Seth Poindexter added 10.

OBU women postpone four additional games

RUSSELLVIL­LE — Due to a combinatio­n of positive tests, contact tracing and quarantine­d players, Ouachita Baptist’s women’s basketball team will be postponing activities for two weeks.

The Tigers have yet to play a single game this season after having to postpone games just days before their season opener at Harding on Jan. 7.

Thursday’s game against Southern Arkansas, Saturday’s game against Harding, their Jan. 27 game at Arkansas Tech and their Jan. 30 game against Arkansas-Monticello have been postponed in accordance with the Great American Conference’s COVID-19 management requiremen­ts. The team hopes to resume play on Feb. 4 at SAU.
