Garland County and statewide polymerase chain reaction-confirmed infections curves fell Friday to their lowest points since last month. The 26 new confirmed cases reported in the county Friday lowered its rolling seven-day average of new infections to its lowest point since Dec. 28. Friday’s 44.72 average was 60% lower than the Jan. 11 peak, as Friday’s reported confirmed cases replaced the

124 reported the previous Friday in the moving average.

Friday’s 1,342.57 statewide rolling seven-day average of new PCR-confirmed cases was 38% lower than the statewide Jan.

11 peak and the lowest average since Dec. 3. The 1,494 new confirmed cases reported Friday replaced the 2,140 reported the previous Friday in the statewide moving average. The statewide average has fallen 10 out of the last 11 days.

“Today’s report shows a decrease of nearly 1,000 new cases compared to the same day last week,” Gov. Asa Hutchinson, referring to the 3,124 new confirmed and probable cases reported Jan. 15 and the 2,162 reported Friday, said Friday in a news release. “There were also over 16,500 tests administer­ed yesterday. If we can keep our new cases on the decline, then our deaths will reduce as well, and this is one goal we can all unite behind.”

The educationa­l institutio­n report the Health Department updated Thursday included 153 public school districts with five or more active confirmed and probable student and staff cases, down from the 158 in

Monday’s report.

Five Garland County school districts were listed in Thursday and Monday’s reports. Lake Hamilton led with 22 Thursday, down from the 23 reported Monday. Thursday’s report listed 20 active cases at Fountain Lake, up from the 18 reported Monday.

Sixteen active cases were listed for Lakeside in Thursday’s report, the same number the Health Department reported Monday. Eight were listed for Hot Springs Thursday, down from the nine reported Monday. Six were listed for Jessievill­e, down from the 10 reported Monday.

The Health Department reported 3,064 active cases in all of the state’s public school districts Thursday, up from the 3,029 reported Monday.
