Floyd L. Parker
MALVERN — Floyd Lee Parker, age 86, of Malvern, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021, at his home.
He was born Oct. 11, 1934, in Leola, the son of the late Felix Dempsey and Nora Belle Goodman Parker. Floyd was the 1953 Senior Class president of Malvern High School, served on the Malvern School Board from 1973-1984, president of School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University. He was also president, CEO and chairman of the Board of Malvern National Bank, president of Arkansas Bankers Association, served on the Board of Arkansas Development of Finance Authority, instrumental in locating Ouachita Vocational Technical School (now ASU-Three Rivers) and Malvern Little League for
50 years. He also served on the University of Arkansas Development Council Board, Garvan Woodland Gardens Foundation Board member, HSC Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, HSC Library Board, served 60 years as the board member of First Assembly of God and Lifepoint churches, president of the Malvern Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club, served on Malvern Rotary and Malvern Kiwanas. He was added to the
2012 Malvern Leopards Foundation Wall of Honor. Floyd also received the Malvern Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.
Floyd is preceded in death by his son, Kyle Beason Parker, and daughter, Kristi Lee Parker Norris; brothers, Doyle Parker, Herman Parker and F.D. Parker, and sister, Darlene Parker.
Survivors, his loving wife of
65 years, Joyce Beason Parker; daughter, Kara Hyatt (Byron); grandsons, Kyle Parker Norris (Madison), Zachary Lee Hyatt (Ashley), Andrew Clark Norris (Charis), Nick Lee Norris, Boone Hyatt (ChristieRaye), Parker Hyatt (Emily); great-grandchildren, Blakely, Kaden, Samuel Lee, Jack, Lexi, Lydia Parker, Owen and Charlie; brother, James Donald Parker (Nora); sister-in-law, Irene Parker; brother-in-law, Larry Beason (Madeleine); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A family graveside service will be held Saturday at Oakridge Cemetery.
Celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at Lifepoint Church in Malvern with Brother Rick McClure and the Rev. Larry Moore officiating. A drive-through visitation will be held after the service, as people leave. Services will be livestreamed on Lifepoint Church Facebook page. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kyle Norris, Andrew Norris, Nick Norris, Zach Hyatt, Boone Hyatt and Parker Hyatt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Nugent, Claude Alan Davis, George McClure, Chris Williams and Mark Kindy.
