Larry W. Meyers
Larry W. Meyers passed away on Monday, March 23, 2021, at home.
He was born May 30, 1937, in Memphis, Tenn., to Lawrence W. and Selma W. Meyers.
Larry was married to Janice Huston in July 1963.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Darin Lawrence Meyers and wife, Michele, Aaron Andrew “Andy” Meyers and wife, Cindy, and Jamie Jon Meyers. Known as Paw Paw, his surviving grandchildren are Christopher Darin Meyers, Sophie Quinn Meyers, Maxwell Aubrey Meyers and Evan Paul Meyers.
Larry’s love was his family and maintaining God’s land.
He was a 1954 graduate of Lakeside School, graduated in 1959 from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of ROTC and Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Larry joined his mother, Selma, in 1961 to form Meyers Realty Company, later joined by his father, Lawrence. The third generation of Meyers Realty Company is represented by his sons, Andy and wife Cindy, and Darin. He enjoyed an active civic life for over 55 years, serving terms on multiple boards, and was actively involved with the early formation of the Hot Springs Music Festival and the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival. He was also a member of National Park Rotary Club.
Larry’s professional life was a love of the real estate industry, from which he only recently retired. As a Realtor, he served as president of the Arkansas Realtors’ Association in 1980 and 1981, chairman of the Arkansas Real Estate Commission from 1986 to 1989, president of the Arkansas Society of Real Estate Appraisers in 1972, and founding president of the Arkansas Real Estate Foundation in 1985.
He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hot Springs, where he served as a deacon and Ruling Elder.
Larry was an ethical, kind man who treated everyone with respect, generosity and with an open, loving heart. He appreciated his relationships from the many physicians who cared for him over the years.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs, Ark., on Friday, March 26, 2021, conducted by Pastor Brad Thornton.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or a charity of preference.
